Also note that you would be responsible for any payment that is needed for the transfer of your funds into your nominated bank account or at the counter directly from the Western Union Transferring Bank.

Don't know how to handle it, so deleted...

I didn't know how to deal with it either, so I wrote to them and said "Thank you but the money transfer has been resolved this date. All monies, $500,000.00 (US) plus an additional unexplained $500,000.00 (US) have been transferred into my bank account. Thank you for your continued good work."

I never heard from them again, but you can imagine the number of scam letters that this email account received in the next couple of weeks.

I sent them a nice reply asking if they could help me with a WU transaction. Very Happy

This is just a variant of the standard 419 scam. Just a "here is some large amount of money that we want to pay to you, but you have to pay this small fee to get it cleared".

Just respond with some variant of "tell me how to complete this business".

The demand for money is in the first e-mail so you will get down to that business pretty quickly.

I think it would be funny to see how "Western Union" reacts when you tell them you cannot send them money via "Western Union" due to some bull crap you make up.

Vaguely new format. Same old advance fee fraud.

Treat as per compensation scam, it's much the same thing.
