great that the BBC has put alittle more awareness out there! scams were mentioned on breackfast thismorning, about fees and emails etc....
any publicity is great for preventing ! |

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster!
This seems to be highlighted in the British media more and more these days (certainly this year!), and it got some good airplay on Breakfast this morning. The more news channels who put out reports on this, the more savvy Joe Public will get when they get an email about the "Sweepstake Lottery"!! |

They had someone on the show - Jennifer (I can't remember the surname), who was from a scam victim support site. Anyone know what site that was? I had to leave for work partway through the segment.

It's great that the media are putting out more stories about scams, but I have to say that for the most part they really don't get it. As far as the journos are concerned it's all about setting up dramatic undercover meets with lads and chasing them down the street or pulling our heartstrings about the victims but they don't explain in sufficient detail how they were conned in the first place. |

I was cringeworthy... they walk into a internet cafe with say 5 other computers and challenge the one bloke that if he had "earned" £15,000 wouldn't really still be there... |

I love how the reporter was able to deduce that the owner wrote the emails and not the customers.  |

My main gripe is that they are giving Ultrascan any sort of publicity. The Beeb should have really done a little more research into them as they are little better then recovery scammers themselves. |

The BBC repeated it again on the 6 o'clock news tonight, 2000 nigerian scammers in London and British Police can not touch them as they scam people abroad, is what i was hearing.
My latest lad locates to Keighley, Yorkshire. |

Following the BBC's coverage of AFF, BBC Radio Five Live contacted me
Talking to the researcher beforehand, he was under the impression that most scams come from the UK .... this comes from Lads using yahoo.co.uk addresses and 070 phone numbers.
Because it was national radio I only got a five minute slot .... this was late at night and I had just had a large Gin and Tonic.
