I recently got back into baiting this year after I had some light shoulder surgery and needed something to do with all my free time while recovering. I decided to start light and replied to a standard 'send me money, you get part of my inheritance' scam.

Good day. My name is Nadi Gulam, I am 17 years old and i am a from azerbaijan but currently i live in nigeria. my dad used to work here in nigeria but one day on his way to work, he was shot dead by arm robbers who were trying to rob him off his car and i was left all alone as i only came down here 2 months before my dad was killed I want to solicit your help financially in securing the release and subsequent transfer of my late father's funds. My late father Engineer Ibrahim Gulam had a deposited amount with Lucas Barnett Associates ( A security firm) Before he died leaving me all orphaned as my mum died when i was four years old and the only relative of my dad i know is his younger brother in jordan whom i cant seem to locate so i am all left alone. I stumbled on the documented cetificate of deposit of the funds worth $7 million US dollars after his death but the security firm said i am too young to recieve funds from $1m and above and so as such, i can get someone to stand and claim the funds on my behalf as my next of kin/beneficiary provided i have a document to prove the change of ownership. I met a lawyer who is willing to help get the document once i can pay for it. I have found it so hard so i had to leave school. one day i was attacked in our house by some people who were asking for the documents of some money deposited by my dad, they promised to come back for me and by then i should be ready to hand them the documents, if not, they ll rape and kill me, i reported to the local police but i guess because i am a foreinger and white, no one listened, so i had to run for dear live and i am now staying in a little local motel in the villages here where i rented with the little money with me as i was been also threatened by some people who claimed my dad rented the house and that the rent is due. hence i have decided to use this medium to seek for help. I need your help as soon as possible so i can leave this place, go back to school and start a new life as a lone child. I need you to help me be in contact with the security firm and tell them that you want to stand as my next of kin/beneficiary to claim and receive the funds on my behalf. I also want you to assist me with discussions with the lawyer so he can take his effort to get the legal papers of ownership change and accept a half payment and the full after the documentations rather than the full payments he is requesting for. Once the money has been transfered to you, i will now come over to your country to receive it. I am offering 20% of the funds to you for your effort and 10% for every expenses incurred by you in the course of the transaction, making it 30% for you in all and 70 for me. God bless you, hope to hear from you soon. Nadi Gulam |

Hello there Nadi, my name is Reggie. I understand what you are going through and wish to help. My father was also attacked by arm robbers when I was young. They got one of his arms. This hurt because he worked as a crane operator and needed it. We became dirt poor and lived on the streets. I made it my mission to rise above it and went to medical school and invented the Papadopoulos Artificial Arm. I am now quite wealthy because of my invention. Your story speaks to me deeply. Please contact me soon so that we can work out the details so that I may assist you.
Regards,
Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
She then passed me off to her 'attorney', Stefano Okaka ([email protected]). I sent an email off to him and he replied fairly quickly.

I just saw your mail about 30 minutes ago, i havent been at my email for long now cos i ve been on some issues but all is well now.
The subject of your mail About Miss nadi, the only Nadi related person i have on my file case here is a little girl Miss nadi Gulam (Is she probably the one you are writing to me about?).
I know tht girl needs help but what can i do, i have decided to offer my services to her at a very cut price and i made her understand this, look, i have a family, and an extended one and they all depend on me, my only source of livelihood is the rule, interpretation and practise of law, there is no other means or source of income for me.
I will talk to your lawyer if your lawyer contacts me but i bet Miss Nadi Gulam let you know freely that what has been holding us heer is finance for the documents, with the funds, this whole thing is a done issue.
If you are related to her or really want to help her, then i ll tell you what you need to do. What is required now is to get certain documents that will literally transfer ownership of the funds from her to you on proxy, that is making you her next of kin, we also need to acquire the affidavit of claim and TKin transfer authority documents in all parts, with this documents, ownership of the funds will be transfered to you and the funds will subsequently be tranfered to you on her behalf buit with every conviction that you wont run away with her funds. Now getting the documents has never been my problems with little Miss Gulam, the problem has always been finance to acquire this documents, i definitely wont take all the stress and time sapping methods that this processes take and the same time acquire the documents for free, is just not possible. I have offered my services for partially free just to offer some help but i need money to get this thing off the ground.
So if you want to assist her, then we have to get started and to get started, we ll need to start processing the documents for subsequent procurement and to do that, i will need you to send to me your full names, address, sex, date of birth, occupation, phone and fax numbers and a copy of any photo ID. As to the finance aspect to procure the documents, it will cost a total equivalent of $2,730 i need some of this money sent atleast so i can proceed.
The money can be sent to the account dept of my chambers via Western Union Money Transfer using the below infos:
name of receiver: Modestus Mbata
Address: 30 ajao street, surulere
State: Lagos
Country: Nigeria
Zip: 23401
Send me the following when you have sent the payment;
Name of sender:
Address of sender:
10 digit MTCN Control Number:
Test questions and Answer:
Exact Amount sent:
As regards you cut out of the transaction, that should be discussed with Miss Gulam and not me, she is the sole beneficiary of the fund. So you can figure that out with her, right now, i am going to take a well deserved rest after a hard day, i will be waiting to read from you once again.
Regards,
STEFANO OKAKA ESQ, LLB.(HONS) BL. |
I obliged with his request of all my information (fake of course, with an Adobe Illustrator file renamed to a jpg for my I.D.), but I told him that I needed a document signed by all the parties involved before I would continue.

Greetings Stephano,
I hope this message finds you well rested. Yes, the girl I was referring to is Nadi Gulam. I'll keep this short as to stay on track and get this problem resolved faster. I will provide all my necessary information at the end of this email, with an attached scan of my identification. What I need from you before I can proceed any further is a formal document signed by yourself and Mrs. Gulam as to the details of our agreement. I will in turn sign the document and return it to you, keeping a copy for myself. On this document shall be all monetary transactions that will occur between us. One, my initial payment to you; second, the amount of money that will be recovered from Mrs. Gulam's father's inheritance; and third, the dollar amount of my cut. After we are official, I will then Western Union your $2,730 immediately. I hope you do not think I am being too pushy, this is just business. Hope to hear from you soon. Here is my information that you wanted:
full names: Reggie Papadopoulos

fax numbers: Have none. If I need to send a document, I will scan it and send it in an email attachment.
copy of any photo ID: Attached to this email

Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
Immediately, he tried calling the fake number I gave him and called me out on it.
Stefano wrote: |
Dear Mr Papadopoloud,
I tried calling your number severally but the operator said it was an incorrect number and it makes me wonder why you should provide me with a fake number.
Anyway, if there is anything you want legally bindig before you proceed, draft it up, i ll sign and send out to Miss Gulam to sign it too.
Wait for your response
Regards,
STEFANO OKAKA ESQ, LLB.(HONS) BL. |
I then bit back, attempting to stay in control, and hoping not to get too pushy as to scare him off.
Reggie wrote: |
My phone number is set up not to accept numbers I have not authorized. If you would like to speak to me on the phone, which I currently deem to be unnecessary, I would like the common courtesy of you to set up a time. You insult me by accusing that I would give you a fake number. Also, what kind of attorney wouldn't be glad to draw up papers for a client? I am ready to release this money to help Mrs. Gulam, but your attitude towards me right now is making me second guess this deal.
Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
Stefano sticks to his guns:
Stefano wrote: |
"The phone number you are tryign to reach is out of service, this message is recorded". That is the message we get when we try to call your phone number.
Now Mr Papadopolous, why do you think this is a "deal" rather than helping a young girl in need of help on humanitarian assistance? Is it because you are entitled a percentage in the principal funds? Why do you think the telling you that you provided us with a FAKE number is an "insult" when actually you provided us a BOGUS number? Why do you think it is not neccessary to discuss with you on phone before anything is done? Why do i have to pre-arrange a phone discussion with you, what then is the use of a mobile phone? No attorney will be willing to draw up a paper for a client who is un-co-operative as to the little issue of a phone discussion.
Mr Papadopolous, i am willing to draw up any paper you need even if you want it to come from a high court or a supreme court but we have to have a formal discussion on phone.
BARRISTER STEFANO OKAKA |
I then replied with a story about having a disease of the Trachea which made talking almost impossible and painful. I guess he didn't buy it, because he sent no reply.
Not willing to quit, I sent off an email about a week later:
Reggie wrote: |
Stefano,
I am displeased with your lack of communication after my last email. I have been cast aside because of my disability all of my life, and this is no different. The money I have set aside for Mrs. Gulam will no longer exist after this Friday, May 23rd. I have dedicated myself to help this young lady, and you seem to want to keep me from doing so. Contact me soon or consider my offer of help absolved.
Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
He missed his deadline of the 23rd, but I pretended not to notice.
Stefano wrote: |
If you are so serious about helping Miss Nadi, then do so without condition, Miss Nadi Gulam has a value and it shall be well protected, we wont entertain greek gift.
Once again, if you intentions are geunie, we will accept your offer without conditions and honour our part of 30% of the funds for you when the funds are finally secured, moreover, the funds will be transfered into your account so you will be quick to withdraw your 30% before Miss Nadi even Reaches your location to receive her funds.
get back to my chambers if you are genuine with real intentions.
Stefano Okaka ESQ |
I then drew up my document that I mentioned earlier in the bait, copy and pasting stuff from documents around the internet, adding our info, and also adding things that I knew would come in handy if 'they' actually signed it.
Reggie wrote: |
I will try this one last time, since I am generally interested in helping this young woman. My stipulation of wanting a signed document still stands. Since you seem incapable to create such a document, I am attaching a scanned version of a document that I have crafted for this occasion. Look it over, print it out, have you and Mrs. Gulam sign it, scan it, and return it to me. When I receive the signed copy, I will release your funds via Western Union.
Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
After a week of waiting, this popped up in my inbox:
Stefano wrote: |

Now, in my document that I made, I signified that at no time should anyone else be added to the partnership, knowing that the Western Union would be addressed to some third party. I'm thinking about playing off of that next. I received that last email yesterday, and he's already sent another one nervously awaiting a reply from me. |

Welcome back.
I am not sure whether we were doing the standard welcome PMs when you first signed up, but if you'd like one now that you're back, please let me know. It's got some useful links and info, although you seem to have stepped back into baiting pretty comfortably. |

Thanks sheboppe. I'm almost fully healed up now.
Here's the reply I sent off to Stefano last night:
Reggie wrote: |
Greetings Stefano,
Thank you very much for completing the form. I am prepared to transfer your funds via Western Union, but I am confused as to who the receiver is. If I could refer you to our agreement, speficially sections 1.02a and 2.01.
Section 1.02a states: "It is agreed that Partner Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos will Western Union funds in the amount of $2,730 U.S. Dollars *to the other members of the Partnership*."
Section 2.01 states: "At no time will other parties be added to the Partnership."
It was not in our agreement to bring another individual into this partnership. I have not been in contact with this person, and I am not comfortable sending Mrs. Gulam's money to this person. I brought about this agreement for a reason and I want to abide by it, just as you have stated that you wish to do.
I await your reply, and Mrs. Gulam's funds are awaiting to be sent.
Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
He sent some bland email back stating that the man was an employee and that he would never lower himself to go pick up a Western Union. He told me I could W.E. to Nadi Gulam if I felt it was a breech of our contract. That seems odd to me since Stefano and Nadi should be made up names, right?
Reggie wrote: |
Stefano,
There is no doubt in my mind that you are a great and powerful man with many employees to do your bidding. That is not my concern. My concern is our agreement and abiding by the rules that we have agreed to. The agreement was a partnership between you, I and Nadi Gulam. That means that I am doing business with the two of you and no one else. If you knew I was to send payment to one of your employees, this should have been put into the agreement, and we wouldn't be having this debate right now.
I will send out the Western Union this afternoon addressed to Nadi Gulam. Have a nice evening.
Dr. Reggie Papadopoulos |
I'm going to make him sweat for a day or two, draft up a fake W.E. form, and come up with a decent story as to why the payment is a little late. |

Ha. So I emailed back and forth with Stefano for a couple days, sent some fake W.U. info complete with a Photoshopped form, and after a couple replies, I got this jem:

I think I'm done toying with him for now. I've got a couple more fish on the line, and I'm going to try and run some new game on them. I'm shooting on getting some good lad photos with this scheme. Wish me luck! |
