Forward: Should this be in Technical? If so, feel free to put it there.
Other Forward: This is NOT about me. This really did happen to a friend / client of mine, and I've been asked if I know of a solution. Naturally, I thought of my friends at Eater. No really... it's not me this time!
A friend of mine recently had a falling-out with one of her close friends, who got into her Facebook and Hotmail/Windows Live accounts and changed the passwords out of (I can only guess) spite. Now she can't access her Facebook account, which is of course registered to her hotmail account (which she can't access either). While I hate web-words, she's been "pwned" quite nicely.
Since I was just a bit too late for the "never give out your password to friends" speech, does anybody know of a way she can get her accounts back? No she's not an Eater member and is not familiar with baiting safe. This is NOT a hack question, since she is the rightful owner (if you will) of those accounts. Why she came to me (a techno-moron) for help is anybody's guess, but here I am. Anyone? |

I'll leave this here, Obi.
IIRC, Hotmail has security questions and other info that is asked when a password is being retrieved. She night try that with all accounts that she has lost. Most of them have a "lost password" option. |

Get in touch with hotmail support. If badgered they can be quite useful. really need a foot up the backside though.
The person will need to know answer a lot of questions before they can get control back. If they ever do. You can try the same with facebook.
Also, look at the secret question answer. It might be that its a kind of riddle.
Thirdly. Find the person that did it and threaten to breatk fingers until you get the password back... |
