Today, aged 79, of heart failure. His distinctive style shaped and influenced rock music from the mid-50s to the present day. I discovered Bo in the 80s, when the Jesus and Mary chain covered "who do you love" and I wanted to find out more about the guy who wrote it. Amazing guy, well ahead of his time.

I liked him a lot...Bo Diddley bought baby diamond ring, if that diamond ring don´t shine he gonna take it to the private eye...how often have I heard that...

^^ I think those lyrics are from "Pretty Thing". A lot of people would probably say "who the hell was Bo Diddley" but then they'd know more than one of his songs. He definitely had a big influence on the Rolling Stones.

My all time favourite was "I'm a man" and "who do you love" but I loved so many others too.

You're right PsycheDelia many will know his songs covered by other artists.

@ PDS No, they are from the eponymous song "Bo Diddley", his first single.
@ lotta, same goes for me, too, I first knew the Buddy Holly version of the song "Bo Diddley"

He was a blues legend and a giant influance on everyone from the Doors to George Thourogood. I'll miss him.

Bo will live forever in music. When I heard of his death, I fired up "Who Do You Love" good and loud and thought of what he did for my beloved rock & roll and delta blues. His work has influenced so many, entertained so many more, and shaped the way music has evolved. This guy was no one-hit wonder.

While his death is sad, even sadder would be to imagine a world without him. If it wasn't for Mr. Diddly, we would have no Hendrix, no Lenny Kravitz, no Judas Priest, no Thorogood, no Clash, et cetera. We'd probably still have the Stones, but they wouldn't sound the way they do. I don't even want to think about that.

Thank you Bo. As long as badass guitar still lives, your music will never die.
