I guess it affects everything even internet scams. I just got the first bill from a Lawyer who has offered their services to handle my NOK case with bank.

$7K+ for 4 documents and a consultation fee and I did not even meet with him. I prior email from the lawyer and I get hit with a $400 fee.

Maybe I should suggest he might need more. If I can get him up over 10K maybe potential victims would not fall for it.

Tell him that since you have waited for so long to receive his services that you are deducting YOUR fee from his bill since you are a professional, and your time is also billed at an hourly rate. Proceed to deduct a ridiculous amount leaving him with a dollar or two. Very Happy

I think I would insist on an invoice. That invoice would have his legal firm letterhead at the top, and an itemized breakdown of the fees.

Also tell him that you realize that it's customary for there to exist an "invoice fee" of $6500, and that you realize you'll have to pay that too. Laughing
