Hello all ~ So i've had this scammer on the line here for a few days, even before i discovered this very cool site!

But I wanted to let you all know about it if you don't already...

I have a laptop i'm trying to sell, and this guy, posing under the name Kate Bash, has agreed to paypal me the money.

Well,. no money has shown up in my paypal account, but he's on me now about the computer.

I know he's a scammer for 2 reasons... A. He used a script I had seen before, " my husband is traveling over seas and i want to get him this computer as soon as a possible for a gift"

And B. He also sent me a mailing address in Nigeria! Lol, what an idiot.

I imagine I will soon be getting a forged letter from "paypal" saying the money is paid, but clearly my account will show the money when it is there.

My only concern is, he has my regular email. Is there anything he can do? I was going to block him from sending me stuff once i got tired of messin' with it.

But most of all, I just wanted people to know about this particular scam and to watch out on Craigslist as it is becoming a haven for these types of scams.

Also, watch out for KATE BASH!

Cheers.

Drop him immediately and bait (safely) from a different account. No need to be using personal details.

And welcome!

I groom craigslist for scammers.

First, craigslist is crawling with scammers. You should always be CAREFUL when doing business there.

As the others said, it is not safe to bait with your real name and email. Please just stop responding to the guy. If you do not, it can become dangerous. I know you think it's fun and are having a good time, but please consider baiting someone else with a fake name and leave this guy alone. He has your personal information.

Please look around the site for information on baiting safely, like using googlemail or gmail or hushmail or fastmail which strip your headers. Always be careful. You don't want to have to sleep with one eye open at night. Yes, the guy may be in Nigeria, but you never know if he has runners in the US who will come knocking on your door.

I do know for a fact that the escrow scammers infest that site, so I imagine it would be the same with any other type of scammer.

I also "groom" the place looking for those specific types of scammers, and their websites.

The name of the game for a site like Craigslist is to only be willing to do business locally.
