I have read a few of the newest letters in the letter archive and then did a search on the forum. Forgive me if this was buried too deep and I missed it.

Why Western Union Money Transfers? The few that I've read both would add comments like "surprise surprise!" or "Who woulda guessed?" after a reference to WUMT with no explanation.

Clearly it is an in joke and its made me intensely curious as to why this particular payment is such a liability for the victims.

Also, when I was reading the rules, no hardcore pornography in the U.K? *whistles* I would kill myself!

Anyways, this site and forum has given me GREAT lulz already. I look forward to reading more of your great work. I dont think im terribly creative, so Ill probably refrain from baiting, myself, but I admire your cause! *salutes*

About WU : this is the highest preferred money service for the lads. These money transfers do not require for them to have a bank account. The money is made out to a person's name and residence, it contains a unique number (MTCN) and a secret question and answer for the WU clerks to verify the identity of the receiver. The lads can also trace the payment by verifying the MTCN online .. Moneygram offers a similar service, although this one is not traceable through internet, only at the MG office, so they would have to come off their lazy asses to find out they received another bogus payment slip and embarrass themselves in the MG offices .. It IS an inside joke. Real business people have real bank accounts, payments can be traced. Now these scammers pose as officials or businesspeople, but always hide themselves. With WU money can be sent without the recipient having to identify himself (either collect with a false identity, or with a "question-answer")
So all baiters know that sooner or later, when money is asked, WU will come up.

What you say is correct and the use of WU is seen as a joke, but they do also use bank accounts, either of scammer friends and associates or of innocent dupes. So nothing is absolute, and that's part of the fun.

One angle we play, is to push for the bank accounts they use, to report them to the authorities as being used in fraudulent transactions to get them closed down.

If you don't think you are creative enough, why not try the fake site killing ? if you have the technical knowledge (not that you need to be a cyber techno genius, as I've done some) that satisfies the less mentally warped among us. Very Happy

Me ? I'm insane so I stick mainly to baiting.

Welcome Clay. As Gomer said, don't let a lack of creativity hold you back. Not everyone baits with wild adventures. You could kill websites (as Gomer suggested), kill phone lad accounts, or even straight bait which is just acting as a normal victim may react and waste their time.

I always try to get my mugus to agree to a bank wire transfer (so you can get bank account information that you can send to the authorities) or, last resort, MoneyGram because as has been mentioned they can't track them on line.

I just sent a mugu to a MG office where he tried to collect from a 7 digit MTCN. Laughing

Oh, those wacky missing digits. I've also had mugus try every mathematical permutation of missing digits in a MTCN hoping they'll stumble on the right one--which wastes hours of their time. MG is always better than WU, in my opinion.

Is is always a wonderful time waster for you to get the mugu to explain in detail how to send money via WU,since you have never heard of such a thing.They seem to feel there is one on every corner.Then explain you live in a remote,rural area,with nothing around for miles.Get them to explain other payment options.You can almost feel the frustration as they try to get you to understand something so obvious.

Welcome Clay, don't let a lack of imagination put you off. I straight bait as I too tend to have an aversion to inventing wild and wonderful tales... but you can be just as effective a baiter, in some cases even more so.
Just keep things simple, and act even simpler. Have a lad explain everything to you ad infinitum... he wants your money so make him work for it, before dashing his hopes on the cruel rocks of futility.
