Hello there.This is the Major speaking. 
A question?
I am fairly new to computing and a whole new Lexicon and Syntax seems to surround the entire thing,a little like mobilephone text speak.
However,I have noted references to something called a 'Troll' in these(and other)forum columns.As far as I know Trolls are some type of mythical creature much like smurfs,pixies or elves.
It would seem to have another meaning in the computer/forum world.
I am sorry to seem so thick but would somebody be so good as to explain what a 'Troll' is in this context.I can only ascertain that they are not popular and indeed seem somewhat despised.

Trolls are worthless morons (usually kiddies) who post stupid/inane comments just to stir up trouble. As you can imagine, with a forum membership of our sort, they tend to have the life expectancy of a smoker in a firework factory.
Unfortunately the standard of trolling has been very low of late, think banjos and Burt Reynolds. |

I,m so impressed I signed the guestbook.
Just mentioned Catbingo to Mrs.The Major and as I write she is rolling around the kitchen screaming with laughter,I only need to look like I'm going to mention it and she starts again.With the proliferation of Cat type adverts on the Telly it could be a noisy night.
We are going to the recording of BBC's Question Time in Brum tomorrow night(seriously)and I am a bit worried about what question she may table now she is party to this esoteric knowledge. |
