Hello SB'ers,

Although for personal reasons, I prefer to not be a SB'er. However, allow me if I may to be a Informant/Supplier/Snitch.

Somehow, someway, about a year ago, I got on the www.chamberofcommerce mailing list of scammers and haven't been able to shake them. I know I could change my email address but then that would mean that they won the battle. It used to annoy me but now, it just humours me the length these scuzzballs will go to. If at best, I just hit the phishing button hoping not to see anymore. I get as many as 5 to 20 of these in my junkmail each day.

What I'm offering is forward these scams onto someone that has the knack of having fun with these critters. Twisted Evil

Baiting is not for everyone but we do have people who just want to help with certain areas and get involved, kind of like eater groupies Laughing

How you can help us is to post all your 419 mails into this forum;

Put what type of scam it is in the subject, ie Lotto/NOK/death threat, then post the original mail including the full headers, it is important to remove any information about yourself. You will not always get a reply but you will get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you are part of the fight against the scum.

Whilst baiting may not be to your tastes, perhaps you could consider ferreting out fake web sites? not to mention fake bank sites.
If this sort of work tickles your fancy, pop down to the fake banks and web sites forum, say hello and have a look around.
You are more than welcome to join the fight in any way you see fit.

Several of the members prefer not to actually bait, but are actively involved in things such as site research/killing, graphics work, phone services, and such.

Since there is so much to read & look at on this site; and you seem to be more interested dealing in 'other' aspects, have you considered the following:

These are involved in dealing/locating/verifying/killing with real 'fake' sites, rather than with the 'phishing' emails/sites.

Phishing is usually best dealt with by the real banks and companies and/or CastleCops (link is in sig line)

I'm crap at baiting; I don't have the attention span for it. But there's tons of other ways to annoy the lads (and I still bait, just for the heck of it, but I mostly do straight baits and then let them fade away and leave the lad wondering why his "victim" dissappeared) Laughing
