Just looking for help on where to go with this now.....
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
I get another scammer looking to blag my car at least once a week and I'm sick of it. I just want to piss these fuckers off as much as possible! (And if they were to send me a cheque that is valid, as much as i doubt it... of course i'd like to take their money too)
Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to the eater.
The scammers may have your personal details as well as your email address, plus your telephone number which is on your car advert, so it's not wise to mess with them if you are easily traceable, only ever bait scammers when you are doing so anonymously.
What they will do is send you a fake/stolen cheque, (they never send real cheques, so don't even bother thinking about trying to cash one) for more than the price of the car, it's selling for €11,000, so a cheque might be sent for €16,000, they will ask you to send the €5000 difference to their shipper via Western Union, so the victim deposits the cheque in to their bank, and due to banks having to make funds available to customers before they have actually cleared, the victim thinks the cheque is legit when it shows the amount on their bank balance, so they withdraw the €5000 and send it to the scammer, the victim now owes their bank €5000 when the bank informs them it was fake or stolen.
The best thing to do is just drop the scammer, tell them it has already been sold or just ignore them completely. |

thanks for the advice lad
Just wondering, once the car is sold, I don't have to close the ad, and i'm sure i have an old phone around somewhere;
Would it be a good way to harvest scammers by changing the phone number & email addy and lettin them roll in? Seriously, like i said i get at least one of these a week. Most i've had is 3!
It's been up for 1&half months now, and I've had 11 different scammers attempting this on me.
Until i found out about this site they received no reply.
That one posted above is the first i replied to, and you've seen how far the conversation's gone, as you suggested it'll go no further.
But could it be used to harvest scammers in the manner i suggested? |

Yes, you could either leave the advert up after it has sold, and change the phone number and email address etc, they you can play with them to your hearts content, in the full knowledge that they will not know who you are, alternatively, place a fake advert and bait any scammers who want to buy the car.
Set yourself up a new email address using fake details in the registration, and use that for baiting, yYou will still have the problem of where to have the cheques sent to, you obviously can't use a real address as it will be traceable.
This depends how much in to baiting you want to get, but if you want to become a scambaiter, might I suggest you become a premium member on this forum, that entitles you to access to anonymous drop box addresses in the UK and elsewhere, where you can have the scammers send cheques to, it does hurt them whe they send cheques, firstly they have to pay to have them made, then it costs them about $50 to send them via courier from Africa, they seem to get annoyed when you tell them you spent the money on women and drink and you wont be sending them anything , or your dog ate the cheque, please send another one, any excuse will do |

I'm doing the same bait scam right now. I was selling a fews cars before on craigslist.com and getting these emails up like crazy. I created a fake account and an obviously overpriced car to harvest these guys. I am currently starting a chat with both. One says he has a local delivery guy, sounds like a safari to me. Anyone know how to find open webcams for the Detorit area? |
