I was selling a camera on eBay and the winning bidder was a user from Nigeria.
Within a few hours after the winning bid, the winner (an individual claiming to be "ISA LOPEZ") sent me a fake PayPal e-mail stating that they had paid. Of course, after logging in to my real PayPal account, there was no record of payment.
A few hours later, eBay notified me that there was unauthorized activity on the winning bidder's account and that the account had been suspended and the auction had been canceled and removed.
Following that, I received a fake eBay e-mail stating that the account had been reinstated. I then received a request from "Isa Lopez" asking me to ship the camera to an address in Nigeria.
These people must really think we're complete idiots.
I'm attaching one of the e-mail messages I received.
Don't know if this is worth baiting or not, but just wanted to throw this out here and see what you all think.

Notice : Administrative Technical Error
Dear eBay Customer,
This email is to inform you that our recent notification sent to you from eBay was a technical error .We are sorry for any mix up we might have caused both you and the buyer. We realized that the bid initiated from Buyer was from the true owner.
If this person was the winning bidder for the transaction then the transaction in question should be reconsidered and completed. You must end the auction if the item have been re-listed.We therefore urge you to go and ship the item or take the necessary step if the buyer has paid for the item.
Thank you for being an asset to the eBay trading community. We wish you continued success with your transactions on eBay.
Regards. You can also contact the buyer on this e-mail:[email protected]

Hello there and welcome to the eater.
It's your normal Ebay scam and you caught it, many don't and ship their stuff. This is just one of the ways they try to make some money on their victims over 200 million yearly, so some still go for it
Report in for a mentor who will set you up with all the stuff you need to bait safe. You might want to drop a "HI" in the new entry forum and introduce yourself to the gang. Read the stickies, read some more and go get your first lad from the surplus. Ask lots of questions (in the right forum please) and make yourself comfortable, this is adicting
@Icybox99 why run the risk, get a new email addy from google or hushmail and try to get his attention, plenty of examples in the forum here.
@quixote same idea for you, get back at your guy from a safe addy or find a fun one from the surplus.
@ Both Welcome, have fun and bait safe. |

Yes - welcome
these are perfectly baitable from a new address, they probably have no idea who they've sent emails to and about which item. I'd suggest having a similar item, and maybe saying something like - thanks for purchasing the whatever, and how would you like it sent, to start them off. You can always backtrack, check your files, and don't appear to have received payment... and take it from there. You'll win some and lose some |
