Mother's Day yesterday. My mother, the poor sod, has a rather jaundiced view of a day that has become over commercialised in the UK. If she get's something from my brother & I, great, but she doesn't expect anything. Just as well as our memories are crap.
But, imagine her surprise to find a Mother's Day Card. From her uncle. A little bit about my mother's family. The younger brothers are a bunch of nutters and control freaks. This particular uncle is the head of a church in London. She has seen him twice (at funerals of the other uncles) in about 30 or 40 years.
But every Christmas, birthday and other religious festival he sends cards. She also gets the news letter of his church, with lists of memorial days, mostly family members who hated the bastard. So this Mother's Day is definately a first for her.
