Hi Baiters,

Since my male character started baiting West Africa-based love scammers every one has turned into a 419 fraud by the second email, sometimes by the first.

Is there any lad out there whose female character offers only love in return for my character's money, rather than a share of her murdered father's 3.8 million USD fortune?

Some lads, especially African ones, dabble with different scripts... they may start out as a love scammer, find they don't do very well at it, then give NOK a go. They usually settle on a script once they've had some success at it.

Maybe your recent ones are in script limbo at the moment? I must admit, it's a bit odd that you've had a couple like that. Something to mull over is whether you are inadvertently steering them that way? Try being ultra flirty with them, and refuse all talk of crashed planes, dying relatives and overlooked bank funds. If they keep veering to a script involving a crashed plane for example, tell them the only one you're interested in is crashing your meaty fuselage into her love runway. It's worth experimenting at this early stage in your baiter career! You'll learn fast.

One other thing to consider is whether you're looking for love in all the wrong places. Stick to the russians on the usual sites if you only want romance... at least you know what to expect.

As an aside, your thread has identified the one sure test as to whether you have a love scammer: send the "female" Mugatu's line:

I'd agree with that. I've just given this a bit more thought, and I think these lads you've been dealing with probably have 2 or more formats to work from. When they sense that their love scam isn't going so well, or if they have second thoughts at all, they'll fall back to their comfort zone.

Let's face it, baiters are the same. Most of my experience is in straight 419, I've dabbled in romance just to see how it all works, but I came back to 419 to get more specialised.
How does this apply? Well at the moment, Tasman and I are joint baiting a 419 dead relative involving a widow. I tried to turn it round into a love bait by getting involved with the widow, but that didn't go so well, so now we're trying to get the Barrister to become an estate agent by scoping out housing opportunities on our behalf in Burkina Faso. In other words, I went back to a place where I was more comfortable and could keep the upper hand more easily.

Lads give you the 419 spiel as their opening email once you say hi to them on dating sites quite often. The use dating sites as a way to find victims, then do a standard romance scam, say 70-80% of the time and a 419 the other 20-30%

This guy moved me off the dating site and into chat and then started pasting me his 419 script in chat.

It's also possible to steer them into the 'other' direction.....419 or romance.
The lads are more flexible since they're 'hands on'. Nothing matters except the end result.....money.

Try telling one of the 'widows' or 'daughters' of the murdered/assassinated/executed diplomat/president/dogcatcher who needs help with the millions that you think she's one hot tomato, and you are looking for a wife. SOme will drift into 'love scams'.

One I convinced that my elderly character wanted to adopt.....
