With the focus squarely on Friday's $270 million Mega Millions jackpot,
California Lottery officials warned the public of a main-based scam Thursday.
The letter, from "Lotto Line", claims the recipient has won USA Mega
Millions jackpot and includes a check to be cashed and used to pay
administrative fees, officials said.
A person cannot win a lottery without having purchased or received a
lottery ticket from a retailer, officials said. Lottery officials
reiterated a winner would never be asked to send a processing fee to
claim a prize. |
