Just to let you guys know that as of today I will be retiring from scambaiting for the foreseeable future, and also that means that I also will be passing the reign of this site over to someone else to run until I return. It has been a great 4 1/2 years from me, and little did I know when I opened my little "hobby" site on September 18th 2003 that it would grow into the huge success it is today, with many thousands of people helping to create so much misery for so many scammers!

There's no big mystery behind my decision to retire; basically my real-world work commitments are now leaving far less time than I think Eater deserves, and also I have other projects bubbling under that will eat away more of my time.

I'll be hanging around for the next 24 hours or so to clear a few things up and then it'll probably be only fleeting visits to the forums from then on.

The head honcho will be Rover. He will take over keeping the main Eater site in shape, as well as being the place where the buck stops! By the time you all read this, all administrative emails will be diverted to his inbox, which should teach him a lesson! I would at this point like to thank Rover publicly for all the HUGE effort and work he has put into Eater, far far more than just about all of you can know. Without him this place would have probably have crumbled into dust, and aside from his technical expertise and hard graft here, I can now count him as one of my best friends, yes, even though he does support the S.A. rugby team!

To all the moderators we have had over the years, many many thanks also. Moderating here is mostly a thankless task, and again, many people probably don't realise the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep a community as large as this running properly. Thank you VERY much guys.

Lastly, thanks to the ordinary members here, many of which have stuck with us for years on end, providing me with lots of entertainment, and many new long-term, friends. Without such a devoted membership 419eater would be just another also-ran anti-scam site, rather than the No.1 scambaiting site it is today. Please keep it up everyone, and thank you VERY much for the tremendous support.

I'd like to think that in some small way I've helped the fight against 419 and similar scams with the creation of 419eater, and hopefully inspired others to go out there and kick some scammer ass! I will definitely miss scambaiting that's for sure (whether I'll be missed is another thing!) and also there are many many members here that I can count as friends whose witty banter I'll miss too. That's not to say I'm removing myself off the planet entirely though; please feel free to contact me via my non baiting email address of [email protected] I'll be happy to hear from you any time, though please, no "scambaiting help required" questions Smile

Please email rather than PM me as it's likely that I won't see many PMs after this message is posted.

I'll pop back to the forums every now and then, just to make sure you're all working hard! Maybe in a few months I will be back to the forums near enough full time as but as for scambaiting, I think I've done my bit Smile
