There was I this afternoon, minding my own business as per, reading my Sunday papers in the pub when my eyes alighted on this article in 'The Mail On Sunday' supplement.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/live/live.html?in_article_id=503898&in_page_id=1889
This is the abridged web-based article but it pretty much covers the hard copies jist.
Better late than never, I suppose. |

Well, one of the main reasons for discarding the Microsoft OSS that came with your computer and installing Ubuntu, Mandriva, Xandros, or any other GNU/Linux flavor. |

^^Yup! Crazy Russians... I heard they are moving the servers to China to get out of the heat. 2008 should be a banner year for them, as Windows Vista is beginning to sell better... |

It's a pretty hysterical tabloid account of the storm worm's workings, and as such, is utter bull. They completely omitted the part about infected pc users opening attachments in unexpected emails, or downloading executables on p2p file sharing networks. Having said that, the blaster worm (remember that?) did infect XP computers within a few minutes of connecting to the internet, without any help from the user, using a now patched lsass vulnerability. |

Tommo ... This is a great article and well written. This is some scary stuff!
Drive-by downloading , people lives are data now....Russian Business Network (RBN) involved in at least 60 per cent of crime committed online
"Five million people downloaded this last month........ "It's fake........ tricked into going...... website for a 'free scan,' which then injects malicious software on to their PC..... pay them to download the full software."
RBN hackers broke into the Bank of India's website and installed software that meant every visitor surrendered their account details to the criminals. It was one of the first instances of drive-by downloading.
I'm afraid to go to bed tonight because my computer is next to my bed!
You don't work for Symantec do you! |
