Have a look at argos.co.uk, they have a DS lite with accessory pack available for store pickup at thier Old Street and Kilburn stores - 150. There may be alternatives or nearer stores to you, North London is a big place. |

^^ I'd appreciate that Mugatu.
I was going to head there or Brent Cross tomorrow in a panic search.
If you spot one, could you let me know?
I don't normally get sucked into Christmas panic buying, but it's for someone very special, so I want to try my best. |

http://www.play.com/Games/DS/4-/1025954/Nintendo-DS-Lite-Console-Black/Product.html
It's a lite if that's any good. 99.99 with free delivery
They have pink, black and white
(edit) Ok, that's really weird. I rechecked and the price is now 170. I SWEAR it was 99.99 when I looked earlier. That's why I assumed lite meant a cheaper version, the same as with software. |

Wayne, there's no actual difference between the older non-lite and the lite version. What happened was that the original DS got remodelled into a smaller and easier-to-hold case, had a few buttons moved about, and better (i.e. brighter and viewable from a wider angle) screens put in.
Other than that, the lite is identical to the non-lite in terms of how it operates and what it can do.
I've got both models (well, two in the house---one is mine and one is the girlfriend's) and games can be swapped between them without any trouble at all. |

Windy: I agree with Eamonn about Argos.
they seem to have stock at the moment. However, to save yourself a run around you can reserve a DS from their website and pick it up from a store.
If its difficult to get probably best to reserve for pick up tomorrow or next day (and give them time to make certain its in the store close to you.
The site offers the following London stores you can pick it up from.
New Oxford Street
Holborn
Victoria
Marble Arch
Old Street
Camden
Walworth Road
Kensington
Brixton
Swiss Cottage |

I've got one!
Cheers Mugatu. The beers are on me.
Thanks for the Argos advice. I managed to phone a few stores and it's first come first serve by the looks of it. All the one's near to me are out of stock. |

Hang on a second ! I opened play below the diagonal. You can't use the Zurich convention unless play is opened ABOVE the diagonal. |

Mornington cresent is camden, they only added it so tourists thought there was something actually between camden and kings cross.
Camden has 2 game stores (1xGame and 1xGameStation) first is about 3 minutes outside mornington cresent tube as you walk towards camden tube, the trick with these 2 competing stores is go to one and then tell the other the prices are cheaper - instant discounts |

Jeez, I didn't realize how popular those things are over there. Across the pond every store has tons in stock. |

That's the Sturgeon Maneouvre, which is permissible when playing off the outer. And as everyone knows when you play off the outer, the diagonals are irrelevant. |

^^^ I guess you didn't the stickies, huh?
A rematch? I'm basking in the glory of my recent win and too smug with myself for another game so soon, but make sure you don't play Digital-One. I mean, what the heck sort of play was that, claiming that Mornington Crescent doesn't exist? I haven't seen anything that daring since the '94 Three Continents Tournament in Croydon, with the young Stephenson re-routing the DLR through Paddington just because it suited him! |

Someone's going to get an off topic smacked bottom here!
Windypop's DS lite is sat in a retailers on Tottenham Court road as we speak, reserved and deposit paid. We're meeting for a beer later so he can give me the dosh and I can give him the voucher receipt thingy......
Except, with them selling like hot cakes, I've just had a cunning plan:
Who wants to buy a white DS lite? |

Most of us spend weeks or even months convincing the lads that there's $100,000 waiting for them in far off places, with no guarantee that they will go there themselves, and here's Mugatu getting you on a safari with just a DS!??!! There's no justice in the world. |

^^ Wasn't the DS, It was the opportunity of going to London's famous Porters' restaurant that swung it. It's very popular apparently. |

Can you meet me at the phone boxes outside the School of English in Leicester Square? It's quite well known apparently!
By the way, do I now get one of these:

Yep it's true. The consignment is now in the safe keeping of my security company until needed.
Thanks Mugatu, A well earned pith helmet, not only for securing it but for a good night out on pub safari. Beer was drunk, baiting discussed.
When I collected it from the shop someone else came in to pickup their DS. The bloke in the shop said it was probably the last one to be had anywhere here until new supplies come in sometime in the new year. His was pink |
