I live overseas and just received this as part of a mass-mail from the US Consular in my country. Thought it might be interesting to post here. Has anyone run across these goobers from Ambassador Care?

Medicare covers medical services only performed in the United States.

Recently, some Social Security retirees have been contacted and told that if they enroll into �Ambassador Care� that Medicare will extend its coverage overseas. This is not true.

We believe that Ambassador Care uses a United States address for billing purposes and tries to bill Medicare as if services were performed in the United States. The bottom line is that Medicare doe not reimburse for services performed outside the United States. This company is using deceptive practices and has been referred to the Office of Inspector General for possible prosecution.

Mr Green sent me a PM with regards to getting the site closed down, I will post my reply here as it contains the Who-Is for the domains, and why I think it's better left to the US Consulate/Office of Inspector General to be left to deal with it

These care websites will not have any of those things to be able to report as an indicator of fraud, you report will be based solely on what the US Consulate said in the email that was sent to you, and then the webhosts will be asking, so why have the US Government not closed them down, especially when the medicareinternational.com site has been online since 2003, and the newer ambassadorcare.com domain was registered in 2006, as can be seen in the domain Who-Is lookup below.

If this has only just come to the attention of the US authorities, and if as they say, they have referred it to the Office of Inspector General for possible prosecution, I would just leave it at that and let them take action, which if found to be fraudulent, the sites will go down sooner or later.
