My computer is running slow. Probably a whole host of reasons but since I left AOL I have lost my Spyware scanner.
Can anyone recommend a free down loadable one? |

filehippo.com has many tools free its a nice CLEAN resource.
Also check out the dust post - and do a defrag too, lots causes slowdowns. |

I use Spybot and Ad-aware. Spyware scanners aren't like antivirus programs, where having more than one installed on your PC causes problems. You should also find that one will spot spyware the other one misses. |

I agree you will need at least the two there.
Using Firefox with Noscript also is very good - though a little annoying if you visit many new sites and need to "approve" certian things to do things on the website. |

Tasman,
Make sure you Disable Systen Restore before you run adware removers.
Some hide out there and reinstall themselves after they are removed the first time. |

^^^ Further to System restore, it pays to clean all the restore points at least once a month, as mentioned above, nasties tend to hide out in the restore points,
Disable system restore, reboot computer, enable system restore
Or as above, disable system restore, reboot, scan with whatever anitivirus you have, reboot, then enable system restore
