I sent off eight emails to lads in the "Surplus 419 Scam Letters" this morning (1500 GMT) and within five hours I received two replies.

Also one bounced.

The lads sometimes work on Sundays, but weekends tend to be a bit slower, it seems. Maybe the cafe's aren't open as long, or the lads actually spend some quality time with the family...??

This has been quite a long running theme on 419eater, but it doesn't ever get less topical.

I've had lad replies at the weekends for sure, but the overwhelming theme is that they don't really do Saturdays or Sundays. I have a lad on the go just now, and one vlad also, just for examples sakes. They are both silent on weekends.

Something else you have to bear in mind is that not all countries do the Sat/Sun weekend thing though. Some muslim countries take their weekends Thurs / Fri, so that may always be a factor.

Why wouldn't they take weekends off?

They're the laziest bunch of thieves on the planet, of course they'll take the weekend! Laughing

Some do work on weekends, sure, but in my experience it is always slower on the weekends.

My lad always works on the weekends but I do receive his emails a few hours later than I do during the week. I suppose he comes into "work" a little later on Saturdays and Sundays.

Of course they don't work weekends. They tend to their goat's special needs on Saturdays, and then they repent on Sundays. What's wrong with that?

What many of us forget is timezones,

Lads are all around the world, so whilst some will be more readily available on certain days, others will fill the gaps, by timezone overlap.

I have noticed the trend is changing, i think its baiters fault they keep sending lads on safari giving them access to more cafes lol so the lad can earn the fare home

I am not so busy on weekends either.

Maybe scammers tend to take it easy on weekends because their victims or potential victims don't tend to respond as often then?

The ironic thing is that some internet cafes in West Africa are open for 24 hours on a Saturday.

I have noticed since I first started baiting that they hardly ever work on Sundays - at least in the Romance department. I've had them tell me the sabbath is a day of rest from all things including the Internet, that their church services run all day long and that the net cafes are closed on Sundays.

But the last few weeks, I have noticed that they are all suddenly available on Sundays now. I discussed this with another baiter and how a couple of love lads are suddenly rushing the bite for money and I have come to the conclusion that the lads are feeling the Christmas spirit and needing more cash. I'd also like to think that our baiting is setting them back a bit in wasting their time for no payoffs. Maybe they're getting desperate.
