In the states, the earliest should be after Thanksgiving, but for some reason now it is after Halloween. This is just plain crass commercialism. Places like Wal-mart just trying to squeeze every penny they can out of the season. I walked into Wal-mart a few days after Halloween and they had a huge Christmas tree in the lobby. I have a friend that manages a local cellular store and the business next to his painted Christmas stuff on their windows the day after Halloween. He and I both offered to pay for someone to come and paint a turkey flipping the bird and saying something like "Thanksgiving comes before Christmas". His boss thought it was funny but said we couldn't do it. Laughing

Spare a thought for the poor shop workers and bar staff that have to listen to Christmas songs on a loop all the working day.

There's been Christmas decorations up in a flat round the corner from my friend house since before Halloween.
At first I thought they might be celebrating Diwali, but a lit up Santa doesn't represent a Hindu god to my knowledge

I liked Slade, but not that.

I saw my first house decorated with Christmas lights today. Bah, humbug!

I like my holidays one at a time, one after the other, in orderly fashion, personally, so, bare minimum, I want Christmas songs and decorations to hold off until after Thanksgiving.

Songs with a high annoyance/stress factor should probably wait even longer. Repeated listening to Jingle Bells at full blast or Alvin and the Chipmunks at top volume tend to make me shop online as much as possible. I can't imagine working there and hearing it all day long...
