No ordinary lads. What suprises me is that we got back up so quickly, so kudos to Rover who did the work of a whole IT department while managing to keep his day job going. Now that is impressive.

We are still hiding behind a fictitious URL - at this moment in time this is probably the best way for us to access the eater forums. If this one goes down - please keep checking Yuku in order to get a new url

Just a quick update.

as you may or may not know we are triangulating between three servers.

as of this morning I had no access to our main server. The good news is I now have access to it.

I will be setting up the database replication again and continue to monitor the attack.

The plan has not changed. As we go forward we may have to move and move again.

Typically we DO NOT loose any data, so all your messages should be safe and sound. All I ask is that if we do go down (.I.E the bot-master discovers our new hiding place) - all you need to do is to go to the yuku site and get our new url. We can keep popping up at will all the time.

The concern with this method is that we will not be getting new members. The core membership of eater typically find their way back here. In order to sort this out - I am looking for ideas on how we can get around this. Feel free to open a thread to discuss it.

This may border on the dumb ideas but...

Would it help us at all if we knew the bot-masters location, IP, or anything like that?

Is laying a trap too ham-fisted an idea?

I was thinking we could put an announcement on the Eater welcome page that says that because of the forums being down, if you want the address to our secret area you have to go to such-and-such a forum to get the code.

Eater members (here) will be warned NOT to go to that forum/website.

New members will be mixed in with the bot-master, and will be required to submit an e-mail to a moderator requesting the address. Then either those IPs can be checked against our influx of attack bots for a match or just generally analyzed to see if it sounds suspicious....they'd be asked a few questions like WHY they want to join Eater, etc. etc.

Any new member ACTUALLY interested probably has no problem answering a few questions like that....but perhaps the bot master would use some terminology or "canned responses" some of our lads use....might tip us off?

I know you can't peg a lad or criminal just by their terminology but.....I dunno. Somehow I think if there was some way to TALK to the bot-master running this we could fumble him enough to get him "off script"??
