I'm currently baiting the vera_thomas puppy scam. She wants $400 to send a puppy to your airport. I asked for pics and she sent a really tiny cute puppy with a pink ribbon in its hair. I bet due to the nature of this scam the people that respond will end up thinking "oooh how cute" and end up falling for it and paying the money thinking the puppy is theirs. I haven't really thought about it with other scams I've read but this one makes me feel really sorry for the genuine victims.

Why would a 'puppy scam' make anyone more angry than any other type of scam?
What's the difference?
Cat scam, dog, trunk box, dying widow, gold, over invoiced funds, next of kin, inheritance etc. etc. They are all the same. Scams with no tangible product.
The common link is that a scammer is appealing to someone's senses to extract money from them.

There is no chance in this world that the scammer is going to send you a puppy. Equally there is about the same chance that the scammer even owns a puppy. It follows that there is no chance that a puppy will come to any harm.
It's the same with trunk boxes, for example; they don't exist.

Now, when can we expect posts from members telling us that they 'feel mad' about trunk box scams?

Glad to hear that you are angered by the scammers. . . all of us often are. There are a few "how low will they go" threads around here that would probably anger you even more. Puppy scams are actually mild compared to some of the scammers' other predatory behaviors. Stick around and channel that anger toward messing with the lad's minds. Wink

I think this scam is plenty bad. Puppies are so disarming, "Awwwww, cute", and only $400....

Also, this is a fast turn over scam. No Barristers, Security Companies, Banks, etc, so while there is less money involved per bite, the bites are fast and plural.

Where'd you find this person? I wanna piece!

^ ^ ^ They are akin to phone lads, and are as about as likely to spam their email addresses all over guest books, message boards, free classified ad websites, etc. If that is the case then their email address is fair game for killing. If you want to find a lot of puppy lads like this, just go to the PhoneLads.com Phone Lads Seed Sites List and take your pick.

There are tons of puppy scammers, do a search through the surplus forum and you'll find some.

By the way, when I baited a puppy scammer, there was a courier whom I was passed on to.

I personally think it's less damaging to someone to find out, "Oh crap, I'm out $400 and I'm not getting a puppy" than having been worked over by the love scammers who prey on people emotionally AND financially. . . . or the "help the tsunami victims" scammers, or the other fake charities, or the . . . .
Scammers are bad. Bait them.

I did not bother to bait--straight to complaint--taken down.

No matter how low you think they can sink, they have plans to excavate further.

I just got the puppy one. 1st time I'd seen it. I told him I was really looking for a kitty, they make better tacos. Haven't heard back yet.

Been there, done that. They are the laziest of them all and probably make a lot of money. I managed to get my lad to WU 3 times. after that he gave up and stopped replying.

The UK, as with so many other places, is not ok with the idea of posting pics of babies or young children.
Don't do it.

Why the devil would anyone want to see it anyway?
Surely we've all seen a baby at some time or other.

Nope, I was just expressing incredulity that someone would do that - I've got 4 children, one of which is actually a baby, so I don't really need to see any more. Thanks for the er, offer and that, though.
