Then we got two dogs. No contest so the chooks were sent away to a farm in the country (or that's what we told the kids anyway).
Chicken for dinner that night was it?
I havnt heard them called 'chooks' for years.

Go post modern and throw the baby out with the bath water!
Make your garden entirely of synthetic materials.
I reccomend a low fence wall, made of painted steel H-pins on a bed of rough hewn concrete. This should be filled with stones and a quarter section in one corner sectioned of with a mosaic wall of about 8" height and sunken a further 7" from the ground level to fashion a pond, which should have under lighting and will feature fish made of semi precious minerals. A wooden deck across one half with garden furniture and a BBQ. Plants can be placed on the deck in raised planters, but I would strongly suggest that all the plants be made of red plastic to accent the H-pins.
Lighting will be important, and my first idea was to have lights which look like stones placed among the rock garden. These could be made of translucent perspex and fashioned to look like rocks during the day, which light up at night.
If you send me plans of the garden I can get working on some plans for you. I can easily incorporate some salt into the design, should the slugs still be a problem.
