Since I know there are a few other Simpsons fans on the 'eater other than myself, I thought I'd report on HOW INCREDIBLY COOL it was to go to a "real" Kwik E Mart!
7-11 has remodeled (in a cheesy, temporary way) a handful of stores to look like Kwik E Marts inside and out as a promotion for the Simpsons movie that's about to premiere. The best part is that they're selling pink donuts, Radioactive Man comics, Buzz Cola, Squishees and Krusty-Os.
I had a meeting nearby the one in Mountain View, CA today, so I made a point of going over afterwards. I now have my own copy of Radioactive Man #1 on my shelf of cheesy items at work, as well as a highly overpriced can of Buzz Cola. The place was crowded as hell, but everyone was into it, even the store owner who greeted everyone at the door. The funniest stuff were the interior signs that said things like "guaranteed fresh, or your money begrudgingly refunded" and "back by indifferent demand".
I think the fact that it was hokey, there was massive price gouging and quite a motley group of people hanging around made it the quintessential Simpsons experience. |

There another in Burbank which is about an hour drive for me. For some reason I don�t think I will drive that far for a Buzz Cola.

According to the news almost all the 6000 7-11 across the US will be done up. Although I think what they meant was the merchandise will be sold. I doubt they will fix up every store.
The 211 which in my city isn�t done up but sells most of the merchandise. The donuts looked awful and not just because they were pink. I was tempted to get a squishee but for some reason I think it would have tasted just like a slushy. I didn�t see the comic book though but I was in a hurry. I stopped by on my way to see the movie. I took my kid. The theater was crowded (with teenagers mostly) but the movie was okay. They got away with a bit more then they do on TV like showing a flash of Bart�s penis |
