The U.S. Dollar Drops to 26-Year Low Vs. Pound .... 
Monday July 2, 2:27 PM EDT
NEW YORK (AP) � The dollar fell to a 26-year low against the British
pound Monday ahead of an expected rate hike by the Bank of England
later this week.
The pound rose to $2.0169 � its highest level versus the dollar since
June 1981 � in New York trading before retreating to $2.0160. The
dollar also dropped to within a cent of its all-time low versus the euro,
as rising global interest rates made the currency less attractive to
investors.
The 13-nation euro rose to $1.3637, compared to an all-time high of
$1.3682 on April 27, before dipping back to $1.3629.
The Bank of England and European Central Bank meet separately
Thursday to discuss interest rates. The BOE is expected to raise its key
rate a quarter-point from 5.5 percent, while the ECB is expected tighten
monetary policy later this year. |

I bought dollars earlier this year when the rate was just shy of $2:�1 and I really did not expect them to go higher. The 2.0169 rate is not what you can buy currency for on the high street, but if it climbs a bit more, you might be able to. |

Yes, remember there was a time that those of us that use the Dollar were just a rebellion.... so it will come around again that the dollar will over take the Pound and Euro and then fall again.
So right now those of us in the US just enjoy the influx of rich european tourists, and gladly take their money when they buy things in US businesses. |

Now would be a good time to purchase american goods, they would "appear" cheaper - wouldnt buy them with visa however they use some strange method to work out the conversion, which certainly does not match the current values.
To make a decent profit on the difference you would need a LOT of money in Pounds and convert it into Dollars.
