.A guy kept asking me if I had one. I told him no. Twisted Evil

Same guy who I have talked to many times on Cell, (American) wants me to mail him something....I was thinking of getting a Physical address looking Postal Box? However my gut says not to do anything.... Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes I am getting ready to sever that tie with him! Cool

BTW.....I use http://www.pimall.com/nais/SKIPTRACE.HTM to track phone#'s etc. Does anyone know of any better sites?

One webcam scam is where the scammer will send a lady a webcam "so we can see each other", then over time persuade her to strip for him on it. Of course, when you do this he records it and then blackmails you with it by threatening to show everybody the video. It's a particularly nasty scam that's slowly becoming more popular. As for receiving packages, they're usually bought with stolen credit cards and then the scammer gets you to transfer them to a drop box. When the authorities search all they find is your address and so hold you liable for the goods.

Mod edit - full quote of previous post removed - Eight

The web scam makes since! UGHHHHHH! You'd have to be a pretty desperate person to strip on a web cam.... Rolling Eyes No way Jose! Surprised

So the postal scam is where he would send me packages that he purchased with stolen credit cards (the postage I guess is what you mean). I would never send them to another address!! Surprised If some one sends me somthing then it's mine...if they meant to send it to some one else it's there problem. What a dumbass! I guess I am lost though if someone was gullible to remail something to a drop box how does that make that person liable? Is it a lock box in my name or thiers? I am lost...sorry.... Embarassed Thanks for helping me understand this by the way!

Not if it's an item purchased with a stolen credit card account. It makes you appear to have commited credit card fraud.

Th bad guys will send you packages paid for with stolen credit cards. They will then ask you to re-ship to "SOMEPLACE" else (probabaly Africa).

Then, the FBI or whoever comes and puts handcuffs on you. You will be the one that these packages will be traced back to.

Ok I think I get it......So there is not a return address on the purchase they send me....they bought the "purchased item" with a stolen credit card by using my address info. The reason it can't be traced back to them the original sender is because
1.) no return address was placed on package
and
2.) it was sent to me as if I orderd it by using my name & address as the person that placed /purchased said package with a stolen credit card ?

Don't they confirm the name on the credit card with the name of the ship to on the card....the retailers I mean before they approve the charge of the credit card?

Both have to be the reason right in order for it to work?. Sorry.....runs and hides over question.

They have the order sent to you using another person's card and details. I've ordered goods for other people using my card and had it sent to their address, sometimes marked as a gift. Some places query it, some don't. One place even called me up at home to confirm I'd made the order before sending it out. Another option again is that they paid for it with a fake check. When it eventually gets tagged as fake then the only address they have is yours. Yet another option is they're using you as a "safe address" for romance vics to send gifts to their "girl", especially if you live where they claim to be. So many options.....
