I got this one sent to my personal, non baiting email, which isn't posted anywhere (kinda odd). This has to be a scam but they go about this in a quirky way, not really asking for money, but asking for products and services:

Quote:

From the desk.
Chairman National Sports
Council of South African
Football Association (NSSAA)

Attention Sir/Madam,

The national sports council of South African football association (NSSAA) in conjunction with local organizing committee (LOC) is requesting the attention of the concerned person who is willing to present their company product or interested in the contract in the development and rehabilitation of the lighting
supply for the world cup stadia and Hotels in south Africa for the 2010 world cup.

The requirement needed for the rehabilitation of the Stadium for the 2010 world cup been hosted by South Africa, include the light rehabilitation, installation of digital cameras and maintenances and installation of cables and all kinds of cables you can think of.

General product is needed for this rehabilitation of the Stadium for the 2010 world cup been hosted by South Africa. Interested persons or company should respond back as soon as possible for the effect of coming to South Africa to sign the contract.

Thanks,
Chairman National Sports
Council of South African
Football Association (NSSAA)

The name of the enquirer is J0hn [email protected]@. The email is a hotmail account and the IP traces back to England so it can't be legit. I searched around for this letter and couldn't find it listed elsewhere. So, any ideas?

It looks odd, but I would not assume that just because the IP is in England, it is a scam. He/she could be based in the UK whilst still representing a S African organisation. Have you done any research into the group itself?

Yes I have, and the South African Footbal Association doesn't call itself the NSSAA. They call themselveas the SAFA.

Also, this last sentence kind of seems to stand out a bit:
Quote:

Interested persons or company should respond back as soon as possible for the effect of coming to South Africa to sign the contract.

Doesn't really seem to add up at all.

Well, it reads like a kidnap scam. It's just a bit more up front than
usual. They seem to be quite popular at the moment.

I had something similar a few months ago. Mine was from the "South African Sports Council".
You have to bid for the contract to get the job and pay a bit up front in insurance and other crap.

I didn't get the job. Crying or Very sad
