Hi, I guess my question is pretty clear in the subject line. I'm playing with two vlads (at least I assume they are vlads) and I'm not sure what kind of script I should expect, since I've only been working with them for a couple weeks.
I guess my bigger question is: how do you tell who's real and who isn't in these kind of scams?

I have just this minute posted this up on Russian Detective, so I'll post it here too. It's regarding looking at the headers you receive.

Organization: INTERNET CENTER

That's the IP address. it shows Volgatel, Mari El branch. We see that a LOT and is a very good indicator it's a scam. They also sometimes disguise it to make it look like they're elsewhere.

The Bat! is the software that automatically sends out the emails. Quite an old version now.

When you install software, sometimes they ask you the organisation along with your name. TB! does that and that's why we see "INTERNET CENTER", "INTERNET CAFE" or even "INTERNET COFFEE". It means nothing. It's just what the scammer decided to enter when he installed the program and definately doesn't mean they're in a cybercafe sending the emails like they pretend to be.

As for typical letters, Russians use pictures of more "girl next door" types and will fall in love with you and want to visit you, but will need money for the visa/plane fare etc. Scammers from the Ukraine will typically send you obviously model pics and then hit you for a translation service and Nigeriand steal pictures from anywhere, but typically modelling and porn sites and will ask you for money for ANYTHING. Even $50 for tampons Laughing

Try Googling unusual portions of the letters and see if they turn up elsewhere.

I have never played in the dateing/love forum and don't intend to, not right now any way. I do get a lot of their intro letters and have recently read a few that a friend showed me.
To prove they were b.s. I simply emailed him/her/it these words, "I'm sorry please check that you have the right email addy I do not believe this was ment for me".
There was no attachment, nothing, only that which is in quotes above. I got back in my email this supposed "girl's" full description and talk of how much she would love to meet me blablabla...
I have come to the conclusion that they are not only scripted (to an extent) but also some how numbered, ?don't ask me how, it's just a feeling.
In my profile at that particular email addy I am a female (which is true btw) she didn't care (because she never read it) and continued professing her undieing love.
So in my next email I told her that was great because I was one heck of a sick puppy and needed a sweet little xxx xxx xxx because I just love doin' it xxx xxx xxx. There was a bunch more stuff about letting my dog join in but I'm guessing by now you've got the general idea. puke
GUESS WHAT! She still loves me even with my kinky wicked side completely exposed.
I don't think half these people can even really read. They're probably all sitting around typeing away trying to make their daily quota. Barely giving each letter a quick glance before moooooving on to the next one in line.
I think it's my gmail that keeps a count on how many times I've replied to my lads. It's probably a set up like that. She saw that my addy has come into her box (shut up all you sick o's Cool ) x amount of times and simply pulled the right prewritten script up and sent it off.

It's a function of The Bat! When you send an email it just sends the next scripted letter and picture in the series to you automatically. It'll even put your name on it a few times to make it look more real, but it's nothing but a script. Your letters don't get read or your photos looked at. I've sent pictures of different people and they don't notice. I've not sent a photo and got thanked for it and told their mother thinks I look like her grandfather. Some baiters even send the last email back to them and get replies. You have to let the script run itself out before the real fun part of the bait starts.

If you visit some of the "anti-scam" site forums you will see many letters there. Overtime you get to know what to look for. As Wayne says , you look for a couple of unusual words and google these words with the word "scammer" and that usually gives some results.
"The Bat" is another sign you have a scammer but I am not seeing so much of the BAT these days. Not because the scammers are not using it , but I believe they are learning to hide it in the headers.
Looking at photos, LOTS of photos on anti-scam sites you will see the same "faces" cropping up again and again with different names.

A lot of scammers tell you they are going from their city to Moscow to get a visa and then come to you. Google these 5 words to Moscow costed so much and see how many hits you get with links to letters.

So many poor Russian girls going from many cities to Moscow and it all "costed" so much Wink
