The headers would have been faked. If they say they're from the FSU and have a .ru email account, it doesn't matter if their IP address says Mars, it's the FSU. More and more vlads are hiding their originating IP address nowadays. Look for all the other signs to see where it's from like the wording of the letter or the type of scam it is.

Wait until she starts begging for money and send her to V3rifys3c. You'll get the real IP address if she bites. My money's on Mari El. Smile

I use an encrypted code to see where the emails are opened (providing they open them). If you want ready made ones, they can be obatined at http://www.readnotify.com of course there is a fee It can be made a 'silent' code, that means the reader has no idea they are being traced..

readnotify is not real accurate when it comes to the IP where the email was opened. It's nice to know it was opened.
With the Vlads, sometimes they never open the emails, anyway.

well I agree readnotify isnt 100% accurate although I use them it depends were they mail is routed but usually they country is correct!.
I have tracked mails from people I know so I can test the IP and usually its more or less accurate.but the 2 scams I have had so far have actually opened the mail. One is anyway at least honest about where he is lol .but it i s good for perhaps emailing in foreign languages .I emailed myself and had it translated to an other and it works jsut fine plus you can stop them from actually being able to forward and you could retract it as soon as u send it so they cant actually see the message or you can stop them printing etc ,so for a few pence its not bad.

I finally took her to V3rifys3c and the IP address came back as San Diego. So, I guess it's not just the e-mail that's being spoofed.

I guess I'll just have to press on and see if I can get a postal address or bank account number. Wink
