They are being coy about the details but I think Monday, March 19th's A Current Affair programme (6.30pm Channel 9) is about a lotto scammer who the reporting team set up for an arrest. If it's about something else completely then I apologise in advance, but it might be worth watching to see what it's about? They have run other scamming stories which unfortunately focus more on the bust than explaining the scam in detail to viewers but we live in hope.

I'd watch it, but Tracy Grimshaw makes me retch. Fortunately the ACA target audience is, IMHO the most likely to fall victim to these types of scams so it does have a good chance of making a positive impact.

The ACA story was less sensationalist than previous efforts and it was amusing to see the self appointed "Claims Agent" cuffed and carted off in a police van. Not exactly gritty drama and predictably understated the contribution from Scotland Yard.

At least ACA made more effort to educate the general public and increase scam awareness in this instalment.

I think Seven of Nine's biased.

(Seven of Nine... get it? Ah, screw you.)

Still, I got no problem with spreading the word. And you're right, Cumfrence, those people are the ones who would get scammed.

Thanks for the link - I've been somewhat diverted into Real Life the last couple of days. Good to see the scammer go down and I'd be interested to learn how he's dealt with in Court and whether his victims can get any of their money back. They explained the scam in a little more detail than usual but nobody asks the most obvious question with these Lotto scams "Did you buy a ticket?". Easy to say when you understand how it works I guess and still very sad for a family who are clearly going to struggle financially from now on.

(Trust Dick Smith to pop up!)
