I'm with Tommo on this one. There are plenty of other words to use to bash somebody. I must add that I certainly am a believer in free speech, but like the "N" word, some words are better off unspoken in a public arena such as this.

That's true, but it can still be used in an unkind manner toward them if they are. I'm not saying ALL uses of the word are bad, just when someone is holding it against them.

Personally, I like the suggested word 'numpty'. It has an Old English Lancastrian ring to it. Laughing

and I will be using it at every available opportunity.
