Hi everyone,
I got an interesting email today from a mugu inviting me to join a web site called Zebo.com. Once I joined up (using a fake account) they then ask you to invite other people from your GMAIL account to join too. They have a page that looks like a login to your Gmail account but I suspect that they are just phishing for login information in order to highjack your email account.

Am I being too paranoid? Has anyone else got an invite like this from Nigerians?

(I would have pasted part of the invite but my Yahoo is messing up bad.)

I don't know about phishing, we'd have to see the email- I don't see anyone going to the trouble to spoof a free email site in order to hijack a freemail account.

Zebo.com looks quite legitimate, however; it's been around since '97.

It looks like another yawnsome web 2.0 site, and is perfectly legitimate. Oh, and we fight scammers here, not Nigerians.

Point taken; I was specific in the nationality because the guy that sent the invite was from that country. I was not profiling.

Ok, so Zebo is a legit site, so what is behind this likely scammer sending an invite to join?

Hi. Very Happy
It's just borderline spam to get more membership.
Yahoo does similar things.
