Hi everyone,

My first posting here. Been baiting for 3 years now, and Shiver has posted several of my trophies [Sing Sing is mine, Amanda Boink too] as well as quite a few HOSers too under other names of course.

For 13 months I baited Edith Calabi in a Ghana refugee camp. She kept telling me she needs money for her sick mother, blah blah along with the requisite phony hospital bills from 'Katomic Modern Hospital' in Accra....which had a PO box but no street address. Even sent me the ID card of hospital director 'Dr Adams Afriyie'--also posted in the HOS. The mugu said he was 50, looks 22.

Anyway, after over 125 letters from 'Edith'--who called me both 'mum' and 'aunty' I decided to really fix those rascals. I promised to send them $5000 for Christmas 2005. ...Imagine their frustration when I told them I sent it in AmEx travelers checks via the mail to the 'hospital' PO box! I further told them that it was safe because only they could cash the checks!

At first they made about 3 trips to WU until it sank in what I had done.
Then came 4-5 emails per day asking me to go back to my post office and demand the envelope be given back to me and that I wire the money. Of course that couldn't be done, as I painfully explained a dozen times. And of course they couldn't because there is no such hospital. So they came up with what presumably was a real street address in Accra and asked me to send an additional $5K right away.

I explained to them that it would take me about 30-60 days to file a claim with AmEX to get back my money and then send it to them. And they hung in there, amazingly. Then came the day I said I would wire it, and wouldn't you know it I got robbed outside the WU office and sent to the hospital, my lawyer--me--reporting the bad news. And they still hung in there for 3 more months!

I'm a newbie on this posting--hi all!--but as you can deduce from this I try and plan my baits for the long-haul whenever possible. That Sing-Sing trophy photo took 4 months to plan for. And if this nugget garners any inspiration for anyone to use my idea, so much the better!

Jervis, you must have the patience of Job. Most of my lads give me the squits after a few weeks. Great effort. Look forward to seeing your next post in 2008? Laughing
