Have you tried downloading a different player? VLC is a good one. Also, your codecs could have become corrupted. It could be worth downloading a codec pack. Press ctrl/alt/del and check under processes what percentage of the CPU the programs are using. That could give you a clue as well. |

when in doubt, read the instructions...
You must uninstall the old video drivers for the onboard video card, and set Windows to run in Standard PCI video, usually, then insert the driver CD and run the install for the card. |

What kind of video card was it? Even though you should reinstall drivers, I never do, because I've stuck w/ Nvidia cards. Did you switch from Nvidia to ATI (or vice-versa)?

PCI or PCI-Express (not that it should make a diff).
You may want to use a program called Driver Cleaner. I've read on tech forums it's really good for removing the old video drivers.
EDIT: Was it already disable in BIOS? It should be, as most modern PCs do this. |

go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager.
Disable onboard video.
reboot
when pc sees new card>set to standard pci video
then insert driver cd, and install software for new card. |

I'm going to guess you didn't remove ALL video drivers before you installed the new card. It can create problems. The proper way is to go to uninstall all video drivers, reboot back into windows only drivers. The screen will look crappy. Shut down and replace the card. Boot up and install the new drivers.
My one computer with an on board video automagically uses the video card if present, otherwise loads the onboard drivers. In fact there is no bios ability to disable the on board video. I just set it to check the PCI slots first. |

we're all right, Weasel! You didn't read and follow the instructions for installing the video card before you started...what a pain in the butt this tech crap is! picky picky....you should have just asked one or all of us nerds to come over to fix it for you. |
