No need to be a dick, SlapHappy. I never used the service myself, and wouldn't say I support illegal downloading. I've just never been a fan of DRM-obsessed online stores that sell low quality files for high prices.

But yeah, as for the 10/23 thing, I wish I actually put more sarcasm into my delivery. Just look up all the ridiculous memorial sites, "bemoaning" (thank you; one of my favorite words) the fact that a site that promoted bootlegging and illegal sharing was shut down.

I hate DRM as well. All it does is stop people who bought music legally from moving it to different devices. I refuse to buy any DRM music (not a big music person anyway so they won't lose much) after I tried buying some (Urge), a month later reformatted my pc, then they refused to play.

As for Oink, I'd never heard of it until it was shut down.

DRM? Not just music. Last year, I bought an academic paper from the British Library in PDF form. What a hassle! I had to install all kinds of silly stuff on top of my PDF reader just to read it, and then found out that I could only print out one copy. Of course, I can photocopy it, but still... horrible, horrible, horrible!

@Remmy223 - Yeah. If you look at one of the memorial sites, it would seem that nearly everyone from OiNK is going over to waffles.fm. The user base has gone through the roof since OiNK closed.

I must be out of the loop i dont even know of any sites anymore that have what oink had - but again i havent kept an eye on such things in many years
