FINALLY!!! I have successfully unpacked every single box (with the help of my wife of course) and think I've seen enough cardboard to last a lifetime! I swear if I see another cardboard box I may snap Wink

Oh, since my wife isn't a member here I can share that I "accidently" misplaced a large box of fake indoor plants that she had at our former home. Twisted Evil "I don't know what happened to that faux palm tree??" Laughing If only I could have misplaced the 12 big boxes of her shoes! Nah..I'm not that mean .

Good move, Vandickey, getting rid of the fake plants. I hate those things, too. Hopefully, she won't miss them enough to buy even uglier ones. Smile Moving is a beech!

My wife and I were married in 1988, and moved into our first apartment. As Murphy's Law states, "Junk will expand to fill all available space!" In our five years there, we had filled up all of the closets, and I had to put up one of those portable sheds in our parking space to hold all of our junk.
When we bought our first house, I thought, "Great, I'll have a garage to hold all of our junk!" After eight years in that house, we could no longer fit the car in the garage! Evil or Very Mad

When we bought our current house a few years ago, it came with a two car garage, and a single car garage that I use as my workshop.
Once more, junk expanded, and last month I had to break down and start throwing out some of our junk, so that we could get our cars back into the garage again.
Lo and behold, I came across some boxes of personal junk that I had packed up before we were married. I've been lugging this junk around, unopend, for nineteen years!!

Needless to say, I held on to my boxes, and threw out a bunch of the wifes. Afterall, to paraphrase George Carlin, "My junk is stuff, and her stuff is junk!" Wink

I felt a disturbing chill go down my spine earlier. Now I know the reason. Thou shall not even joke about that. Evil or Very Mad Wink Thoughts like that results in missing boxes of your cherished Playboy magazines or sports cards.

My approach is to sell all of my old stuff so I don't have to move it then go shopping for new stuff. It works beautifully.

@Corona- Yes, "accidently" into the neighborhood dumpster Twisted Evil

@SlapHappy- I talked her into REAL plants that actually do wonderous things like GROW Laughing Laughing

@419Weasel- As Crash mentioned; you will ALWAYS have more and more crap at every stop along the way. One of the side "benefits" is occasionally you'll open a box of long forgotten goodies that is actually both nostalgic and useful......mostly however it is just jumk.

@PRS- My Playboys went missing long long ago, I suspect a former roomate.....Oh, and I know better then to even mention "shoes" to my wife. Wink

^^^ OMG, yes I know!! We purchased new furniture, a frigde, freezer, big 'ol TV, etc....... I don't know if you're married or moving w/ anyone or if this move is fairly close to where you are now; but while my wife was at the new place, I was ALWAYS opposite her.....I was at the old house loading up the car. It just made things much much easier. Cool

I know this feeling well. Sold our house in July. Moved into an apartment until our new house is built...still waiting. And then get to move again. Ever try to stuff a whole house into a small apartment?

^^ The new house is going to be rewarding, but the move to eventually move again has little to be desired. I'll have the 12 pack handy and my truck ready for ya when the time comes...sounds like you'll need it Smile

Since I moved to NZ 4 years ago, we have moved 5 times!!!!!!!!!

A year ago, we bought a house that nly needed a little bit of work' but was cheap for what it was. Over the last year, we've stripped wood, painted walls, scrubbed carpets, replaced carpets, renovated the kitchen, insulated everywhere, renovated the outside completely and put in new bathrooms. 'We have done all this ourselves. We finally finished last Suday and decided to sit on the new deck with a nice glass of wine to celebrate.

Yesterday the (soon to be ex if he's not careful) husband, walks into the house with a real state magazine under his arm. he's seen a "Lovely house that's quite cheap for what it is and only needs a little bit of work.....""

Arggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^Yup, us too. Every time we really start making a place nice...
... we move again...

We are almost through painting the outside of the abode. Guess we need to start collecting carboard boxes! Shocked
