I still don't understand how that is only one border crossing. From Burkina Faso he has to go to Benin and then Nigeria. Looks like 2 borders to me! Even still that is one heck of a detour. Still much closer to go Accra to Ibadan. I think you should let him go to Ibadan, then smack him for going there instead of Abidjan. |

I agree that its two borders, but I can't see any other mugu logic, other than him stating that crossing one country is crossing one border.
For the life of me I just dont see where he thinks Abidjan could be, if he has to cross two borders to get there, unless he counts crossing Togo & Benin as crossing two borders, and has confused it with Ibadan....
I am definately going to sit tight on this for now, and just see where he turns up to collect me... |

Gives me a good idea that I hadn't considered before though.
Even If he does arrive in Abidjan, I'll now tell him that I am in Ibadan.
Silly me, all my fault, now come and collect me and the 150k please.... |

Sleepless and myself felt that it would be a good idea to give our lad a little encouragement after his initial disappointment.
So I pinged an Email off to him telling him how much I wanted us to be together, and also reminding him that I am carrying a huge amount of cash on me.
Whilst Sleepless charmed him with her telephone seduction technique, to increase his longing still further..
Quote: |
My darling husband,
I cannot tell you how happy I am to know that you are coming for me, all
of our dreams are soon to come true..!!
I am very sad that we will not be together tonight but knowing that you
will be here for me tomorrow makes everything alright.
Mister Robin and Mister Toure have been very kind to me, but they are a
little bit old and boring.
Should I leave them some money I was wondering?
I have a huge amount of cash on me and I didn't know if it would be the
polite thing to do to thank them for their kindness or if that would be
rude.
Please advise me what the African custom would be before I embarrass
myself.
Unfortunately Mister Toure does not have a telephone, I dont think he
can afford one, but he said that his house would be quite easy for you
to find. Its on Blvd Roume on University Hill, and it has a tree outside
with beautiful purple flowers.
He said that if you ask any locals they will easily give you directions
because everyone knows the University.
Or he said if you are not able to find the house, then just get to an
internet cafe and Email where you are and he will bring me to you.
He doesn't have the internet either, but there is a small cafe very
close by and I will be desperately waiting for news of my lovely sexy
husband.
If you can leave at 9:00 tomorrow what time would you expect to be with
me?
And will it be possible for you to Email me somewhere along your journey
so that I know that you are safe and travelling to me.
Perhaps you would do that as you enter the country?
LOL...I will be so very excited by the time that you reach me, that I
will be like a cat on a hot tin roof...LOL..!!
Yes, I have your photo with me, I look at it all the time. You are so
strong and handsome and I know that you will always satisfy me and that
we will be so happy together.
All my Love,
All my Kisses,
Your ever loving Wife, |

Titus and I just had a lovely chat.
At 12:40 Burkina time Titus answered his 226 phone line:
Melanie: Hey baby is that you? Are you coming for me?
Titus: I will be coming tomorrow morning
Melanie: Are you sure?
Titus: Please, I will come. I just got in from Ghana.
Melanie: Oh baby, write me soon. I miss you so much
Titus: I miss you too
Melanie: Please come
Titus: I will come tomorrow.
Melanie: What time?
Titus: Please I will come in the morning. Kiss me.
Melanie: Yes...
(this lad still has bedroom on his brain after upteen hours on
the bus? Ah, what the heck, Melanie decided to exchange
some steamy kisses with him... Especially since this is ALL
that he will get for his efforts, thanks to Simba)
Melanie: Baby, that was so good. Come soon. I have to go now.
Titus: I will come in the morning.
Melanie: I will be waiting. Bye for now my love.
I dialed the 233 phone line for Titus after this call and received a recording that MTN customer's phone equipment is switched off or out of area. |

I have a feeling that Mister Duru missed his connecting bus in Ouaga, because he promised to get off of the bus bringing him back from Accra, and immediately catch a bus to Abidjan at 9:00 in the morning.
However, he didnt contact me until 4:00 in the afternoon, and he was now clearly back in Ouagadougou, Burkina.
It would be nice to imagine him stuck on a remote roadside by a broken down bus again as he makes his detour to Burkina.

Hello, Angel,
Well I am happy to receive your mail but I have stress myself so far for looking for my love, meanwhile, that is not a problem, because I believe that I will still see you in future. However I will like you to appreciate to Mr. Robin and Toure for their kind help in regards to us ok.
Please you have to understand that I thought that Mr.Robin is an African and that is why I asked you to be careful but when I discovered that is a white my mine fill relaxed, so you have to tell him not to fill embarrassed.
More so, I will make a move to Abidjan to meet as soon as possible so that you will understand how you are really important to me ok. Based on the money that you asked me if to give to those gentlemen.
I think you have to wait till I arrive in Abidjan as to enable us arrange things together. Concerning my arrival, you don't have to worry but definitely I will arrive tomorrow as I promised you ok and as soon as I arrive, I will go to internet and notify you immediately.
See you tomorrow. |
Quote: |
Hiya my darling husband,
It was lovely to hear your sexy voice and to exchange sexy kisses, but I
am so excited to know that tomorrow our sexy kisses will be for real.
Mr Robin and Mr Toure have been very nice to me, I think that they are a
bit too old to want sex from me, so that has made me feel safe with
them.
If they were younger men then I am sure it would be a different story.
However, you need not fear because I am saving myself for you my darling husband, and only you.
I think your are right about offering them money though, and I am glad
that I asked for your guidance.
They have no idea about the money that I am carrying with me, and maybe
they wouldn't be quite so nice to me if they knew that I had it.
Although they do not want sex with me they might want all of our money,
so I will be very careful until you arrive to take control.
I can't wait to see you tomorrow I am already so excited, and I will be
counting down the hours until we can be together as man and woman.
All my Love.
All my Kisses,
Your ever loving wife |
It makes me laugh the way these mugus mistrust all other Africans, yet as a previous safari mugu once told me "the whites dont tell lie"
So this is where the safari stands at the moment.
Hopefully Mister Duru hasn't been able to contact me because he is in transit to somewhere, but to be honest, at this point I truly have no idea where he thinks Abidjan actually is.
He may arrive in Ivory Coast, he may arrive in Nigeria, he might not even leave Burkina.
I await his next Email........ |

@JoJobean - I still have absolutely no idea...
In all of our correspondence he has said Abidjan, but his description of how to reach Abidjan from Accra mystifies me completely.
He has taken a 1,000 mile detour inland, when Abidjan is only 250 miles along the coast from Accra.
In all honesty, I'd laugh my socks off if he Emails me from Nigeria, and I'll faithfully stay put in Abidjan until he arrives to collect me there.
But until I get that Email from him, it will remain a mystery... |

That would be the funniest thing in the world. If you get an email from Ibadan I will pee my pants. I cannot wait to see what happens. The best part is, it will be all his fault. He cannot blame you at all. |

This is such a funny bait, I love it. If he does end up in Nigeria make sure you rip him to absolute shreds for f*cking up so badly.
I'm sure Jojo's lad (who keeps ending up in Ibadan on safari every week) will be happy to point him in the right direction |

Mister Duru Arrives In Ivory Coast
IP address = Ivory Coast = 41.207.206.191
Well I must admit to having mixed emotions this morning.
@Jojobean - Your pants are safe..
My 'husband' has just Emailed me:
Quote: |
Hello Angel,
Please call me through the bellow number, I am waiting to hear your call
(06 82 5750)I have been searching for address you give to me,
But it is unfortunate that I couldnt locate it,So I am waiting your call, right now I am at the frout of the cocody univesity gate. |
His IP does indeed resolve to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Although thats where he was supposed to meet me originally, I was rather hoping for him to make a monumental cock-up and arrive in Ibadan, Nigeria.
Never mind though, its still a ridiculous detour that has taken a couple of days of travelling, when all he needed to do was hop on a coastal bus route.
Well now its time to deliver the bad news that his lovely rich wife has had to travel to Liberia with Mr Robin & Mr Toure.
Lets just hope that he is still eager to safari...... |

After keeping me waiting all day for an Email yesterday, he is bombarding me with them this morning...
He must be getting a little bit frantic.
Quote: |
I am so worreid as i can't hear from you, please do call me immedaitly with the bellow number 06 82 57 50
I'm still waithing for you at the cocody university gate Abidjan.
urgent reply needed |
Anyway, we'll ignore all of those, this is my pitch to lure him onto the next stage of his safari.
Keeping fingers crossed....
Quote: |
Oh my darling, darling husband,
I am so happy to hear from you, after you disappeared off the radar
yesterday, I feared that you had divorced me already.
Where on Earth were you?
You promised to be here Yesterday morning, why were you 24 hours late
for me? What happened to you on your journey from Ouagadougou?
I phoned you so many times Yesterday, but your phone was always switched
off.
Anyway, my darling, I have some news to tell you.
There was an emergency here. Unexpectedly Mr Toure's son arrived in his
land rover with the tragic news that Mr Toure's daughter is having a
baby and is desperately ill, and that Mr Toure needed to be by her
bedside.
Mr Robin told me that it would be best if I travelled with them, because
as a stranger, they couldn't leave me to stay alone in Mr Toure's house,
and whats more they could hardly just turn me onto the mean streets of
Abidjan at 4:00 in the morning all on my own.
Could you imagine that?
A young white woman, all alone with her suitcase, not knowing where she
was, wearing a skirt that is too short, carrying 160,000 in cash,
hoping that her husband would come, but not being able to contact him.
How long would I have lasted out there alone? An Hour? 10 minutes?
I would have been robbed, raped and murdered.
So you see, Mr Robin was right, I had no choice really, I had to travel
with the others.
Mr Toure's daughter lives in a town called Zwedru which is in Liberia.
Mr Robin and myself are now in a town called Harper, which is right on
the border, while the Toure family have continued to Zwedru.
I begged Mr Robin to stay here with me, until you came for me, and he
very kindly agreed because he knows how much I love you.
Mr Toure tells me that you need to catch a Sotra Bus, from Le Plateau
Gare Sud, which is near Place de la Republique.
Apparently Harper is only about 100 miles on the bus and the route is
quite good, you could definately be with me here later today and then we
can consumate our marriage properly and you can give me a baby on our
first night together....!!
My darling, darling husband please come here for me, I will wait for
you, please do not abandon me now that we are so close to each other,
just a few hours seperate us my lover.
Please come for me, I miss you so much and so desperately want you with
me...I will try to borrow someones phone and call you later on the
number that you gave me.
And I pray that tonight we will be warm in bed together.
All my Love,
All my Kisses,
Your Loving Wife, |
Actually, I think that Harper is closer to 250 miles from Abidjan, and is a two day journey. Please correct me if I am wrong, Red.
And thanks for the tip buddy... |

I have read your mail with understanding, but as the case may be I cant make it to where you are now, because like as I told you early that I am financial down.
I travel all the way to Ghana for the sake of love today again I am in Abidjan and now you want me down to Liberia, I will definitely like to inform you that I do no more understand what is going on.
kindly send to me the SUM OF 500 through the bellow name to enable me proceed further to Liberia or you should return back immediately and call me as soon the box arrive. |
Quote: |
You should ask Mr Robin to put you in the bus which will bring you back here in Abidjan, and you should forward to me the bus company name to enable me wait for you over there. |
Quote: |
My love, please I am worried as I dont know where they are taking you to, now I will advice you to come back I will be here waiting for you.
I dont want any thing to happen to you ok.
You come here in Africa because of me, so I dont want any thing to hurt you. |
Quote: |
I dont want anything bad to happen to me either, but surely you cant
really want me to travel all alone through Africa carrying 160,000 in cash with me.
I can't possibly do that, I am sure that I would be robbed, raped or
murdered, and I am surprised that you would risk my saftey like this.
Please hunni, please just come and collect me from here. It really isnt
that far and will be easy for you as an African man than for me as a
white woman.
I love you so much and cant bear to be apart from you, please come for
me soon. |

Nice work Simba!!
By the way, you write better emails from a gushy young woman than I do. I just can't bring myself to do it with my lad. It's ok though, he loves me anyway.
I liked the part about "a young woman all alone with a skirt that is too short". Nice picture you painted for him. |

I have been waiting patiently all day for your bus to come over the hill
so that I could run up to you and welcome you with open arms and kisses.
But I am so sad because you havent come for me, and you havent even
Emailed me to let me know that you are coming.
Its with a very heavy heart that I am beginning to think that you dont
love me at all. You said a man would face anything for love, yet you
havent come to Harper for me.
There were some local guys last night that were chatting with me, and
were asking me why I was alone without a man. I told them that my
husband was coming for me, but I am feeling as though you have abandoned
me in this place and have gone home alone.
Please would you just contact me to let me know where you are and what
is happening |
Sleepless has been trying to call Mr Duru today, but is getting no reply.
Whether this means that he is heading back to Burkina, heading to Liberia, or has been eaten by a crocodile, we have no way of knowing just yet.... |

Simba,
Thank you for the great safari and keeping us all amused with the tales of your errant husband to be. I hope that he will turn up somewhere very soon, as I hate to see you talking to these strange men
With so many choices of where to go in Africa and ways to get there, maybe he is just a little confused?
Keep us posted on the new developments |

Simba,
All I can say is "... " well, nothing, I'm absolutely speechless! After looking for the Zwedu road map the other day, I ended up reading up some on the place ("professional" curiosity maybe?), First read of your lads adventure just now and put 2 and 2 together - I have to say that I have to side with the lad insomuch as if I were given the choice between traveling to Zwedu and never getting laid...well, suffice it to say I'd be sitting along side the boy on the ride back home!
It is a place not yet worthy of being called a third-world area until the infrastructure is updated a bit the hospital closed in 1990 and the street gangs have run off the police, military and the UN!- I think it would be fair to call it the "holly grail test" for any safari!
Lovely work BTW~! |

@Sleepless,
As much as I love the notion of Mr Duru having a really rough time, by taking a safari to Liberia, I just get the gut feeling that he has given up.
I'd love to be proven wrong though... |
