I just got a call from our "New" ISP - they have DECLINED taking us on board! (Too much of a risk)

I will be searching for another ISP today. If anyone here knows of an ISP that specializes in DDOS mitigation - feel free to let me know

No no, not my wise 2 cents, but hubby's. According to him they are pretty cheap and pretty good. Had to say: loads and loads of bandwidth <-- which will prolly make more sense to you than to me Laughing

EDIT: 3600 giges, or kill the avatars from the server and let people host them somewhere else. You know what, he can post under his own username Laughing

Just an little bit about what we require here

1: Only a DEDICATED server will work - We cannot get into shared hosting
2: We require about 1000GB per month

There are hundreds of ISP's selling second or third tier hosting (shared) we do not want that

We do not want a CPANEL / PLESK or anything like that - we control our own machine.

No DNS / EMAIL and all the other crap they try to sell you.

Basically give us a machine on the end of a fat pipe with DDOS protection and leave us be!

How about Gigeservers, not cheap but they seem to specialize in high risk sites.

For PF....

The 1.4 was nothing compared to when we had those monstrous 8" diskettes........that held just about 1mg of data. Then things really got sophisticated when you could get a magazine to hold more than one.

My main concern here is deciding what comp[any is for real and what company is just re-selling upstream services. For example look at this on the gigeservers site

1mg?? I (still) have a few 8" that held a whopping 256K. You can see the tracks with a good magnifying glass.

The last customer I had that gave us his text on 5,25" disks was less than a year ago. He used WP 5.1 (DOS). Yes, they're still out there.

They currently DO NOT offer DDOS protection for web sites - only for IRC servers!

Err, before this gets out of hand, I happen to know that Rover speaks a language remotely related to German, and speakers of both of those languages can usually understand (in reading) about 70% of what's going on in the other.

Hence my assumption.
