A friend forwarded this to me - this guy ("James Bright" <[email protected]>) is trying to scam him - headers long gone, but the email should be good.

The whole thing looks like a scam to me, having read so many of them here. James is too busy to mail a real check - so why is he buying a good sized, heavy, antique machine?

He refers to this URL:

http://www.q-check.com/

Is this a for real service?
whois lists:
Registrar: TUCOWS INC.
Whois Server: whois.tucows.com
Referral URL: http://domainhelp.opensrs.net

TUCOWS.com is a shareware site I have used for years.

Hi, yes, it's a scam, www.q-check.com is a legit site, it is often used by scammers, they will expect victims to print of the cheques via the q-check site and cash them, it's cheaper for the scammer that way, rather than him getting fake cheques made and having to send them via courier.

The scammer has no interest in buying an old antique machine, he just wants the money from the overpayment he will put on the cheque Wink

I guess he would have thrown that overpayment in after the "vic" agrees to the deal... (he made no mention of that familiar modality)

P.S. If anyone wants to mess with the guy (scammer), his email is above.
