Got a lad who after months of nagging and abuse from PRSGG and me has agreed to meet us in London (he has UK based comrades). Anyone have a preference to which web cam should be used because as far as I can tell there are loads and it would be nice to have one with good picture quality. I'll try to arrange the meet for a weekend so everyone can enjoy. Very Happy

The favourite web cam at the moment is the one in Leicester Square. I would vote for that one. Second choice is the Abbey Road pedestrian crossing, third would be the hotel car park one, (forgot the hotel name)

RL, I've tried (and failed) to get lads to stand in front of these cams a few times. Good picture quality.

I've never tried it but I think the Piccadilly Circus cam showing the Eros fountain has possibilities. Instruct him to walk in circles around the fountain while he is waiting to meet you! He should certainly show up on camera. Laughing

With the last one if you choose, movies up close, from the dropdown menu, you get an excellent view so I may well want to meet him in front of the Odeon, but with the large selection of webcams in that small area, as long as I tell him to wear something distinctive he should be spotable.

With camvista You can take snapshots (Ctrl alt prn scrn)

But you could arrange for them to arrive in trafalgar square, then call and say its too crowded you cant find them, (Trafalgar square has a cam that does have a good distance view, so if you told them the specific in between the two tigers at the front you might see them at a distance of course)

You can then take them on a tour of london, each time bringing them nearer and nearer to webcams Wink

Which gives me an excellent idea, anyway check a map of central london, and on that im sure we can help mark up where the cameras are.

I'm going to try and send him on a pub crawl. Starting at the Shepherds Bush Belushi's Bar, and then telling him I meant the Covent Garden one (both have webcams). The way from one to the other is via Leicester Square so I'll see if I can stop him there for a couple of mins.
This is tentatively going to happen on the 29th which is a Saturday and he seems very compliant (read desperate) at the moment so fingers crossed.

Bloody long walk! Shepherd's bush is about 45-50 mins walk to Covent garden.

You're not letting him get the tube are you? Wink

BTW, I agree with SlowFreddie, my webcam of choice is the Leicester Square "Scool of English" one, it's nice and clear with good landmarks.

I've tried to set up 2 meets at this one, unfortunately niether were successful. But I'll try again either way when the right scammer comes along.

^^I'll try and persuade him not to tube it as I know it's a heck of a walk. I'm organising it for 29th Sept which is a Saturday for lunchtime. That way lots of people can hopefully enjoy the show.

By the way, I'll revise that walking time.... I've only had to walk from Notting Hill gate to Covent Garden before, and that took nearly an hour. Shepherd's bush is probably a lot more like an hour and a half. Ouch!

Just tell him Hyde park and Holland park are pretty this time of year and to miss it all by travelling underground would be a waste! Wink
