Hi

This is funny/strange. The Lad is presenting me with a proposed legal transaction to help his friend who is in a "difficult situation" at the present time. He then gives me 2 sites where I can read about his friend. And as you see, both sites report on his friend's conviction for criminal activities. How could this guy think that a victim would want to help him after reading about his friend? Wouldn't he think the reports would scare off a potential victim? Also, while I presume it's fake, he gave me a bank website but i don't have the experience to determine if it's a fake site or not, so I thot someone here would like to take it on! Thanks.

profitable business for you... !!!

Dear Prospective Partner,

I am writing to you on behalf of Mr.Kim Woo-Choong. My name is
Mr.Daniel Wu and I am a Managing Director at the Chinatrust Commercial

Bank in Hong Kong. Our bank website is www.chinatrust.com .

My friend Mr.Kim Woo-Choong has presented a delicate transaction which

will need the collaboration of a partner like yourself to complete
successfully. This is the proposition. Mr.Kim Woo-Choong is in a
diffucult situation and he must immediately relocate certain sums of
money out of the Chinatrust Commercial Bank in Hong Kong. Moreso, this

must be done in such a way that it must not be tied to Mr.Kim himself.

I assure you that this is a legal transaction and the sum in question
is currently deposited in the name of an existing legal entity in
Chinatrust Commercial Bank in Hong Kong. Your role will be to act as a

business trustee and end-title holder to funds which are in excess of
US$19 million. Everything will be done legally to ensure the rights to

the funds are transferred to you and you will be duly compensated with

a very good percentage of the total money. You can call me for further

details, terms and agreement.

For Mr.Kim Woo-Choong's current profile visit these sites:

I expect your enquiries and my response will be swift.

Why don't you play the real victim and ask him why he's refered you to those sites.

The lad will have noticed a news story involving millions and started a scam without thinking about it.

To answer your question, www.chinatrust.com is a legit site, this is an example of piggybacking, that is, he is using the name of a real entity to make HIMSELF appear legit.

I've asked this same question (and many others) here before, so allow me to share what I found out about it!

This modality is no different than the lottery win, the corrupt banker who found millions or the orphan with a secret box-o-cash. It's just the attention getter. The convicted felon thing will appeal to the victim who is a little more greedy maybe, but that's irrelevant. The idea of the owner of this cash being safely behind bars is just another way of making the money look safe.

Yes, a real criminal would get out soon, and then come looking for whoever stole his money in the real world. But in the real world this would never happen. Just like banks don't actually lose track of 14 bazillion dollars, or just like people don't win lotteries they never entered, the story of how this fortune came into being is just styrofoam filler that's supposed to make the story believeable. Maybe some victims figure "well I'm stealing it from a convicted criminal, so I guess it's OK", or perhaps something else. But it's just another 419 at the end of the day.

I've received this exact letter before, though probably from a different mugu. I don't remember the specifics, but I did spend a lot of time grilling the lad about what happens when this crime-lord gets out. The resulting explanation was, as usual, rather entertaining. If I recall correctly, that particular mugu got shut down by yahoo in mid-bait, but I could be wrong.

The important thing is that a mugu contacted you, which gives you the green light to bait the S.O.B. until he becomes a raving drug addict who is begging you to just stop the pain! Go get some. Very Happy

I did what you suggested, Rodus Longus. I asked the lad why would he refer me to those sites and this morning he replied and said that he'd rather be sincere about the situation.... so that knowing the complete story I can join them in partnership of decline. Very Happy

^^In which case you can now permanently (and constantly) refer to it as a 'partnership of decline'. With any luck he'll try that on a real vic in future which may make him look a little suspect. Mis-education's a wonderful thing Wink

First of all, whatever you do, DON'T point out the stupidity of including links that show the person's criminal convictions. In fact, don't even mention it. The last thing we want to do is encourage lads to actually look at the links they're sending out Wink
