I know there are a lot of factors involved, but are there any specific criteria that affect a Domain Name's price?
I contacted the owner of an unused Domain Name (nothing to do with baiting) asking if the DN was for sale, and if so how much. I expected a price tag of perhaps $400 - $600 but was quoted $12,950, slightly out of my price range!
I suppose the value of any Domain Name is open to interpretation, but I would have thought a DN that has been unused for 18 months might come a little cheaper. |

I think you are being baited!
Maybe the reason it has not been used for 18 months is because nobody was willing to pay the price but the seller does not want to lower. |

I imagine like any free market good/service it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
The vendor makes a valuation based on their assessment of it's worth and offers it at that price. One of the problems is, of course, that because each name is unique and you cannot buy the same name off someone else, each vendor has a micro monopoly on the DN. They can, presumably, afford to ask for any price they want and don't have to be in a hurry to sell it.
I am, of course, guessing... but it seems like a logical scenario. |

Shiver, I have my own .com its not scam baiting related... I pay about 35 a year in American dollars... I get about a 1gb of space, great customer service... The host is based in Europe I think England some where... If your interested I could pass along the host site for you... |
