That was my reaction, too. I did it as a throwaway gag for me personal entertainment. I actually overlooked at first that he corrected it. Why should he care about this and not the fact that I gave no city in my address? Laughing

BTW -- For those not familiar, "George Herman Ruth" is the real name of baseball legend Babe Ruth.

Often they don't.

The early rounds are usually handled by a "catcher" whose job is to field replies, establish that the victim is gullible (enough to part with personal info like bank accounts details) and verify that the victim is real. However, catchers tend to be lax about the third point (as we know) - they don't even seem to use obvious online databases to do identity checks.

It is probably relevant to consider that they get paid or judged on the number of qualified prospects that they deliver to the next level up (usually the guy who plays the barrister). There is really no incentive for catchers to do the job properly, as it will just lower the number of prospects they pass on.
