hope this is in the right sub forum..

put a couple of old mobiles. worth not very much, on eBay yesterday and within a couple of hours got this...

"Dear (ebay_username_chnaged_by_me),

Dear Seller, Good day to you,I am interested in your item
displayed on eBay,but i want to get this 2 items for my uncle sons
who are currently studying in Africa as a congratulatory gift.I
would have love to bid like others but the nature of my job will
not allow me to do this at this time, I will be offering you
250.00 for this items. So please if you are interested in selling
this item to me, kindly send me your PayPal email address so that I
can send out payment immediately via PayPal or Nochex Money Order,
As i said earlier am offering you 250.00 for this item, this will
include both the shipping and handling cost to Africa via Royal
Mail International Signed For. Your urgent response will be highly
appreciated. Thanks and God bless. ~Mark~
[email protected]

- so blantantly an african scammer, so being a tad drunk late last night, i set up a new hotmail account [email protected] (i.e. SUPER GULLIBLE) and e-mailed him this back...

"Dear mark,

excellent! i am happy to sell you the two items, this is my actual
e-mail address, i anticipate your payment forthwith, please also
let me know the shipping address,

many thanks

opt."

i then receive...

"Dear MajorOwned,

Thanks for your mail..i will want you to end the auction immediately cos i will be sending the payment to your paypal email address right away, this is to avoid confusion among other ebay buyers.

Please get back to me immediately this is done.

Thanks"

followed by an authentic looking e-mail from paypal. only problem... no such account exists. in the small print it says 'the money will not be credited until a shipping address has been confirmed', i.e. till its in the post.

and then the final e-mail...

"Good Day,

Thanks for accepting my offer,i just want to let you know that payment has been sent for your eBay Item via PayPal as requested.

Amount sent: GBP 250.00

Payment has been sent to [email protected]

Shipping Information :-
Adebiyi Emmanuel
13 Folarin Street
Itire,Surulere
Lagos 101014
Nigeria.

And it has been deducted from my account right away

Please i want you to post out the item as soon as possible upon confirmation receipt of payment from paypal via Royal Mail International Signed For

Thanks"
