Did you ever have one of those days where something happens at work; lasts only about a minute; and then you spend the rest of the day explaining it to your supervisors and co-workers? I had one of those, today. I get to work, like any other day. I'm there only about a half hour when I get an overhead page to go to the front lobby. I get there, where a gentleman in a business suit ask me if I am who I am. I tell him yes. He then serves me a subpoena. The case is a criminal one, which did make national news in the States, last year. It also made the BBC, according to my brother in law.
So, the rest of the day, I get pestered by co-workers about the case, not to mention the hour long session with my boss, trying to explain that I am not a plaintiff, but a witness to the case. Needless to say, I did not get much work done today. Boy, do I need a drink.

I get pestered at work. I get pestered at the Forum.
First: I am a witness for the Prosecution.
Second: I changed careers because of this case.
Last: I did not work at the facility in question, but, worked at another location. My involvement with the case is, that I had custody of the victim for 7 hours prior to his release to the facility where the tragedy occurred.
The prosecution took over a month and a half to find me, but they did.

At this time, I will express no opinion on the case, because of legal considerations.
Finally, I ask all of you not to judge me because of the behavior and actions of the defendants. All I can say is that, a day has not gone by since, that I have not thought about what happened. Sad

That is awful. An otherwise healthy 14 year old is no longer on this earth.
I don't blame you for switching careers - something like this is bound to have a profound effect on you.
Stick it out - no one here is pestering you - you took their light hearted teasing (which was out of innocence) as a slight against your character. Had we known the full circumstances I know that nobody on this site would take a potshot at you.

I wish you well in your new career, Logar. The good news is that time tends to smooth down the rough edges of those daily thoughts and memories you are now experiencing. May justice be done...

And a side comment...if you find yourself in the room with Jackson and/or Sharpton, keep your hand firmly over your wallet. Always look for a money angle when those two are present.

I would like to say that I did not take any offense at the early replies to my first post. In fact, the replies here were a lot better than some I received at the work place. But then again, most of this crowd are a better class of people, than where I work (and some of them are doctors). The last several months have been rough, in a large part due to the upcoming trial. For the understanding I received after the second post, "thank you". In fact, things are looking up. Just today, I've won two lottos and I've been offered some inheritance money from Nigeria.
