We seem to attract more and more people that work in law enforcement to this site. Maybe it is a good idea to have a sticky where they can give us all some legal advice on shady areas. It would be nice to hear an "official" p.o.v. on what we are doing here. After all we are dealing with criminals and we wouldn't wanna be in the way now, do we. Rolling Eyes

The problem with this idea is the many jurisdictions that the Eater covers. Also the limited amount of people that deal with internet fraud as a specialty. In the states, the internet is covered by mainly Federal internet fraud statutes. (Wire Fraud http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire_fraud ) The DOJ (Department of Justice) has the main jurisdiction in this area.

I think that if one reads the FAQ's & stickies, and follow them, they will be just fine.

Edit to add: 97.2% of LEO's in the states deal with drunks fighting in a bar or with their wives. When they get a complaint of internet fraud they direct those complainants here.
