Yes, The Goon Show was fabulous, and anyone who hasn't ever heard any episodes should do themselves a real favour and find some to listen to. Some of the funniest and most imaginative stuff you'll ever hear, unless of course you have had a sense-of-humour bypass Smile Like you Gendo, I was brought up on it by my father who was a huge fan.

Spike Milligan truly set the standards for alternative humour Smile

The fact that none of it makes sense is what makes it so funny. "Here, crawl through this photograph of a hole in the fuselage!" "Now quick, throw the photo away before we fall out!"

And of course Bloodnok's random exclamations are another of my favourite things about the Goon show. "Stretch me scallybonkers and flatten me doreen lundies!"

In my opinion though, the best Goon Show sketch of all time has to be the famous "What Time Is It, Eccles?" Sketch Very Happy

Oh yes. The "Time" sketch was brilliant!

EDIT: I just found it on a Goon fan site: WHAT TIME IS IT? - 600k MP3

Sorry I do not have the cultural distinction you have. Rolling Eyes

I do find it ironic that you slam the movies I mention about lacking 'culture', immediately following with a South Park reference. Hello Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.

I've got to say that 'The Jerk' is one of the funniest films I have ever watched! (Even beating Abba revival)

I'm so not a Steve Martin fan, but.... the scene where he's lost his special perpous and the dragging of the dog..oh...and the oil cans...in my exceptionally small and very badly spelled, humble opinion, just brilliant.
I laughed until my...well...you don't really need all the gory details...

(Ok. I'm getting so cross with myself, how do you spell purpose? purpoise? porpoise? purpuss?.I'm giving up and going to bed so I can go back to school tomorrow and learn how to spell.)

Purpose is correct. Unless you were talking about an aquatic mammal. In which case, it's Porpoise Razz
