I wouldn't worry. There's plenty more lads waiting for you right here.

I guess the email address got shut down, or perhaps your lad meant for you to reply to a different address. The return path isn't always where they ask you to email them back. Have a careful read of their original email.

Edit: It might be a good idea to **** out your email address.

Just delete that really wide part of the header and it will stop the forum blowout. As for the dead addy, its always a good idea to reply to a few at once, so you can pick from the replies. If you're short of lads, there are plenty up for adoption in the surplus forum.

Just break the lines up by hitting enter. I guess that's what you're asking about though it looks OK on my screen.

Dead links and addresses are just a sad fact of this game. That's the problem with these mugus - they're just not reliable! But not to worry. The same mugu will very likely take a poke at your inbox from his new yahoo/gmail/whathaveyou account in a few days if not hours. These guys go through email accounts like a pot-head through Doritos. Lads are an expendable commodity - the supply greatly exceeds the demand, even in here.

In one of the threads I read when I first got here, it said to give up having a life outside of here. My poor kingdom might fall apart, because I'm finding that this is too addictive!

At first it was the humor that drew me in, but then realizing the ~good~ that baiters are doing! I had to do my part! When I'm not princess-ing, I'm a banker, and unfortunately I've seen first hand some of the victims of these no good buggers. Thankfully, I've talked some people out of doing wire transfers and have had the opportunity to save them this time. The saddest part though is when the same person comes in more than once.

So anyway ... thanks so much to everyone and the expertise and experience you have! Probably a little overeager here, but I'm definitely a willing student! Smile

A BIC code or SWIFT code is a standard format of Bank Identifier Codes approved by the International Organization for Standardization. It is the unique identification code of a particular bank.

Cheers NN. So if I'm "sending" money to my lad and get the wrong swift code but the right everything else then he would believe the money had simply ended up at the wrong bank.

Don't overexplain a lie. It makes it appear you are trying to justify something you know is untrue.

In a first reply instead of giving a long explanation that I am a sea captain with no phone connection and only get to land every three months or so. blah blah blah. Just sign Captain Ahab - whatever. Then you can inform them more as the bait progresses, when they are actually reading what you put down.

The Lad likes to hear that you are keen, stupid and have money. At the outset any more detail will be ignored by them and is likely to spook them.

Regarding the Swift code question, am I right in thinking that every UK bank and branch has it's own code, or just each bank? I understand that the 6 digit Sort Code identifies individual branches for all banks, but not clear about the format of Swift codes.

Looked at the website. Didn't find it particularly user friendly.

Funnily enough, I am a banker too. Well, in most of my baits anyway. Other than that I find stocks and shares dealer works well. Wink

I don't know what it is but I've had a lot of first emails "bounce" on me too very recently. More so than before, but don't be put off, it happens. As (I think) SlayerFaith says, send out a few at once, then you're not so often dissapointed.

SWIFT addresses are not that complicated in fact. They start with 4 letters for the bank, so you know what kind of bank you are sending money to. Then they have the country code, then you can add XXXX, meaning main bank or random letters/numbers for smaller banks. When you type in swift in google you can see examples, or go to www.swift.com. No need to get it totally correct. I usually give the mugus a fake bank anyways.

@ Princess - regarding the dead email address, as others have said, it happens from time to time.

I usually find it happens when a lad is using the same account to receive mail as the one he is sending out the original scams from. What happens is that they send out, for example, 500 scam-mail letters to potential victims and yahoo picks it up, spots it as a spam/scam account and shuts it down. Thus, he cannot receive emails into it.

Also check to see if there is a "reply-to" address supplied in the header. Often this will be a different address (sometimes very similar) and it should be ok to go Wink
